Cuba comienza a desmovilizar a reservistas

LA HABANA (Reuters) - Cuba comenzó a desmovilizar esta semana a cientos
de reservistas puestos en alerta desde que Fidel Castro entregara
temporalmente el poder por razones de salud por primera vez en casi
medio siglo, dijeron el miércoles fuentes del gobernante Partido Comunista.

También están siendo desmovilizadas las Brigadas de Respuesta Rápida,
grupos de vecinos usados para contener disturbios frente a una eventual
agresión militar de Estados Unidos, enemigo histórico de Cuba.

"Esta semana, se están organizando actos de recibimiento en los barrios
de La Habana para homenajear a los reservistas que estuvieron
movilizados para reforzar la defensa del país," dijo un funcionario de
rango medio del Partido Comunista.

Los cubanos recibieron el 31 de julio con calma el anuncio de traspaso
temporal del poder y respiraron aliviados cuando diarios y canales de
televisión estatales mostraron el domingo y el lunes imágenes de Castro
tras la operación intestinal.

En varios mensajes enviados a los cubanos desde su lecho de enfermo,
Castro pidió mantener en alto la guardia porque, según dijo, el gobierno
de Estados Unidos está al acecho y podría aprovechar para agredir
militarmente a Cuba.

"No es primera vez que movilizamos a la reserva militar. Esto es
histórico," dijo el funcionario del Partido Comunista que pidió no ser
identificado.

Los reservistas fueron concentrados, indicó, para "fortalecer la
capacidad defensiva del país ante las continuas amenazas del Gobierno de
Estados Unidos."

El gobierno del presidente George W. Bush aprobó en julio un nuevo
paquete de medidas para aumentar la presión económica sobre la isla con
la esperanza de forzar un cambio de gobierno.

Washington apuesta a que la muerte de Castro podría desatar un "proceso
de transición a la democracia."

Los reservistas, vestidos de verde olivo, fueron vistos en las últimas
semanas patrullando las calles de La Habana.

Cuba adoptó en la década de 1980 el concepto militar de la Guerra de
Todo el Pueblo, una doctrina de movilización popular inspirada en la
guerra de Vietnam contra Estados Unidos.

En teoría, en caso de una invasión estadounidense cada cubano será un
potencial combatiente. Existen arsenales distribuidos por todo el país y
cada Comité de Defensa de la Revolución, una organización creada por las
autoridades para vigilar en los vecindarios, tiene instrucciones
precisas de acción en caso de ataque o de suceder algún disturbio interno.

Sure. That's why Mexico is such a beautiful place!
So why are you trying to change the subject to anglo-Hispanic hate?
The subject is ILLEGAL actions of Hispanics. That's called law-
breaking,
crimes, stealing, and worse. Of course you failed to notice that a
large
percentage of the illiterates in the South are black. Who are
African,
not "anglo-saxon". But I suppose you think they have no skills
either... except
perhaps basketball and crime. Oh that's it. You Hispanics don't like
the
competition stealing things. You are not only a racist but a criminal-
lover too!
I'm guessing we need to send YOU back to some Mexican stink-hole
jail.

It's because America is a free, capitalist country that Mexicans can
come here and excel at crafts. At least they are providing much
needed services.

He knows what he's saying. He says he wants to steal whatever takes
his fancy because Americans are so rich they'll never miss what he
steals. And it's completely OK because, he's poor and someone else is
not so he should therefore be allowed to break whatever law he
chooses. I mean, hey, he excels at "crafts"! What is YOUR craft?
Basket making or stick-up jobs? Most of the Hispanics in my town seem
to "excel" at importing drugs without a license. Oh wait,
"undocumented druggists" are just one more "Hispanic talent", right?

You see, Pedro, America IS free for those here legally. And it is a
capitalist country that Mexicans can come to and excel at anything
they choose. All you have to do is follow the proper procedures and
get the proper papers. So simple even a Mexican can do it. However,
we don't agree that providing crimes is a "much needed service" for
our country.
