I wonder if Mr. Russell pays for his guitars.

But, in any case, with the dollar falling like a rock and the Fed printing
money like it's going out of style, when I find a good deal, I'm buying.
There wil always be a market for hand made items. The only question is
whether anyone will have the money to pay for them in the future.

He's right, but there are more different valid reasons for that view.

1. The homunculus (body image) has the ability to adjust almost
instantly to
a different geometry. Ivan Galamian, in "Violin Playing and Teaching",
advocated
exercising this ability. It is certainly prudent to play different
guitars.

2. Playing a completely different instrument is good for your head
too,
especially one that has the same technique but a different /
personality/,
such as the banjo.

IMO playing 6 string and a polystrung guitar equally introduces an
undesirable element of frustration, but maybe that's just me.
