I don't drink. The Conversation is more nearly perfect than anything
Kubrick ever did, but 2001 is better than Apocalypse Now.

The music and cinematography in "2001" are superb, but the movie is boring,
IMO.

Agreed, but the first two Godfather movies are among the best films ever
made.

2001 is like a well-crafted guitar that sounds thin - beautiful but not
very satisfying. I went with my mother to see this movie back in 68.
This seems like an odd choice for a mom to see with their kid. Like most
viewers, we didn't get it either.

If you get the Blu-ray disk and view it on a hi-def screen you'll see it
in a way that you've probably never experienced. An amazing achievement
for a film from 68.

Two different genres and each stands on its own. Having said that,
technology has overtaken 2001 and made it less important, irrelevant, while
Apocalypse Now will always stay relevant and up to date.
