“It's Prussian blue; it fades.”

Andrew Schulman

Who was the composer that reputedly said these words? Who was he
referring to? What was the piece of music, that is connected to both
composers, that was the subject of a thread here some time ago?
There
was a dispute about an accidental.

That's actually a wonderful anecdote which I've told many times
onstage, but not this quote.

Keep trying. We might actually have an interesting thread if someone
gets all three.

I'll put an end to your misery......JS Bach on the works of his son
CPE Bach. I guess pappa didn't have as much respect for the kid's
skills as he had for his own,eh?
The rest of your questions concern the goings on in the barnyard for
which I have less patience the even MO.

Good luck getting even a semi serious answer.

You are the champion and winner of the Prussian Blue contest Mr.
Wollybird, congratulations!

So, what do you think the right note is, E or E#?

Of course, what makes it so interesting is that it is CPE Bach copying
out the fugue his father wrote. Was he putting in wrong notes on
purpose to exact revenge for that snide comment? Is there something
RMCGish about this if he did?

Andrew

I doubt he did it on purpose. even though he may have thought the old
man to be annoying and hopelessly out of touch. Apparently, it's damn
near impossible to publish a piece in modern times with out error.
Can't imagine hand copying (although I'm sure there are those here who
do it flawlessly and consistently)
