I play F2P games and delete them, many many games.
Wow gets played simply because it is still there and a predictable way
to waste a week with frenetic activity, sometimes. Most of the activity
is actually predictable, AH make-lotsa-loot or grinding.
Funnily enough the ones I remember best are Runes of Magic and Earth
Eternal. Poorly administered, EE folded RM was run by people who seemed
to have some sort of mental issues , frustrating, complex, buggy and
unfinished.
Honestly they were rubbish, EE had great support and community, RM was
just frustrating with very very very poor support.
But more memorable even years later. Mostly because they were kinda hard
and required concentration and effort. Oh, and in them I managed to rise
to godlike heroic level , a modestly large virtual fish in a very small
pond with shared adversity.
Mythic-for-a-day-then-on-a-treadmill-again isn't so memorable, mythic
then having the world destroyed cements the post traumatic memories :-)
