What's going on in the North Barrens?

petertrei

Several times, I've heard about max level toons in this expansion going back to the North Barrens to farm Ko'korron (sp?) for *something*. In particular, they're going after caravans.

What's up with that? Isn't it a fairly low level zone? What's there that's worth farming?

Both sides are gearing up to take on Garrosh in the Siege of Orggrimar.
Vol'jin is leading a troll revolt, of which the Alliance is helping by
preparing an attack by sea. Players in both factions are building
towards this by killing Kor'kron in the Barrens to collect supplies in
preparation for the attack.

Yes, the Alliance and Trolls are working together against Vol'jin.

Max level players, when completely the weekly quest to collect 150 Wood,
Oil, Stone and Meat receive not only 200 Valor but a Radical Mojo which
can be combined with a non-BoP Latent Kor'kron item to create a level
483 piece of gear for whatever spec you are in at the time. Various
minibosses across the Barrens also have a chance to drop a Radical Mojo.

Another thing players can do are either protect caravans of goods, or
loot overturned caravans of opposing factions for quick material pickups.

Other loot includes a few cosmetic items and minipets, purchased with
various amounts of collected materials.

Low level players are phased, so until you are level 85 you won't see
any of the high-level mobs.

Polarhound summed it up well, but I thought I'd mention: follow the
quest chain you'll have auto-received at the start of 5.3 and it'll
lead you there (you probably gave up when it sent you to do a scenario
- the Durotar and Barrens storyline comes after that bit).

Not much in it for mains tbh but some epic gear for alts is handy, at
least, and it's interesting seeing the story progress. Bit of a
disappointment overall though, as there's not very much to it, once
you've done the chain (which takes a few hours, max), that's it.
Although it's an ok way to get valor, weekly quets gives 200 or so I
think.

Yes, I'm pretty sure I dropped the scenario quest. Anyone remember the name? I might want to pick it up again.

Can't remember the name but have a word with Lorewalker Cho, in the
Lorewalker's room, he gave most of that chain till it sends you to
Durotar.

I'd be able to look it up for you as my druid's on it, except the
servers have been down for the last hour, *sigh* ;-)

I believe it's called War Is Coming. Try talking to Lorewalker Cho in
Mogu'shan Palace in the Vale.

Actually I've wandered through there on my level 20-30 chars and see the high
level mobs, they are yellow and I need to be careful as you CAN target and
you CAN attack them. Which of course you'll die rather quickly.

Just the other day I wandered by a caravan and the outriders attacking it
ended up killing me with their multi-shot. I was lvl 25 at the time.

I've never seen a radical mojo drop from any of the commanders (I assume
that's the minibosses you're referring to.) Is that for real?

Good armor for new level 90s, I'm kinda miffed it's gonna go away before
the monk alt I'm currently working on is gonna be there.

Yes. I have one. Had no idea what it was for.
