Legendary questline - completing [Celestial Blessing] as arcane mage

Peter T.

7/11/2013 12:46:00 PM

Last night I did third and fourth part in ToT lfr on my arcane mage/523.
I was in luck and got the missing 4 titan runestones. Next part is to
kill Lei-Shen and loot the heart from his corpse. When you hand in the
heart you get another quest.

I used the strategy as described in the link, but will add some more
detailed information as I did like 10 attempts on this fight before I
finally downed Wrathion.

When the fight starts pop a CD or two and nuke him until he finds you.
When the adds spawns you go invisible and run to the balcony ASAP. Be
sure to run as far away as possible from the adds while being invisible.
this will make you loose aggro and the adds stays in the center of the
inner room the whole fight as long as you dont go even _NEAR_ the stairs
when youre on the balcony! So basically you maybe have like 50% of the
balcony's area for the fight and not the whole balcony. thats quite
important to know. :)

So this fight is a pure *survival* fight and its pretty long! I suck at
those fights so other toons will maybe complete this much faster than I
did. :) Anyhoo. You will dps him, but your main task is to stay alive.
Do you know a warlock please ask for 3 health stones before entering
this challenge.

The rest of the fight will be done on the balcony.

As Wrathion is blindfolded in the fight he cant see you. That gives you
some seconds to nuke him with your CDs between each of his "attacks".
So be sure to attack him while youre standing behind him for the damage
bonus. But this is not a high priority so nuke him no matter what.
But more important look on the floor. He does a cone of damage after
each "attack" and you have to run out of that cone before you get hit by
his damage. Otherwise you will be hit by 200k. You maybe have 4-5
seconds for this.
In my fight he spawned his mirrors 2 or 3 times. This is your break for
replenishing health while you stay far away from them as possible. Use
your bandages, rune of power or whatever. But you cannot eat as youre
still in the battle and DONT waste a pot or healthstone here as you have
plenty of time to get at full health.
Meanwhile his mirrors are up you wont be hit by them probably as youre
outside their range. they will disappear after like 20-30 seconds so be
ready to run around again when Wrathion runs back to you.

If/when I was at low health I popped my mirrors as those draws aggro
from you. Here you have 20 seconds for nuking him. Pop them early in
the fight as the CD will wear off and you can pop them again later.
Late in the fight I aggroed the adds by running too close to the stairs.
Luckily my Invisibility meanwhile was weared off so I could pop this
again. Dunno why, but they returned to the inner room and stayed there
for the rest of the fight. So another lifesaver. :)

That was my 10 cents. ^^

Cool, Thanks for the info. I was so far ahead (for me anyway - prob on
schedule with the game) on the questline, and Bliz totally screwed me
over this last month or two with regards to the Titan Runestones, now
I'm so far behind I feel. I ran the 3rd and forth ToT every week and
got my first one on May 21st. I *just* got my 12th last night and
turned it in but did not go any further (was late). I've had guildies
start in the second week in June and get all 12 in 3-4 week....So
infuriating...I was so ticked on my second week when I got 0 drops that
I logged off for days. At least now you get a ensured drop off the
Thunder King every week, so if your luck sucks it can;t be more than 12
weeks...

The guaranteed drop is from Lei-Shen. Last night a single stone dropped
in third part and the last three was in fourth part last night. Imagine
how happy I was when the 11th stone dropped from the twins. =)

Misery loves company - I'm further behind; still working on The Thunder Forge scenario.

I've been doing it as a healer. Best I've done so far is about 23%, at which point I run out of anvils.

I'm getting better bit by bit, but I'm wondering if I can pull this off anytime soon.

I'm even further behind, on the secrets still - however, luck favoured
me last week and I went on a run of 5 drops from 6 bosses, which
helped no end (having had a run of 9 bosses with 0 drops a week or so
earlier...). 14/20, maybe someday I'll catch up to the rest of you!

I hate you... :)

....I had 8 stones 3 weeks ago. Got one the next week, two the week
after and got my last on Lei-Shen last night.....

On a side note, I don't remember if I saw it here or in guild chat where
it was mentioned, but regarding Warcraft lore and flow.....after you get
your 20 secrets and do the solo scenario, you have to charge the lance
you receive with lightning from Nalak. Wrathion then instructs you to
kill Lei-Shen and stab his corpse with the lance. OK..done...Then you
collect 12 titan runestones and bring them back to Wraithion....Then he
wants you to kill Lei-Shen and bring his heart back to him....

Wait....huh?

Now I know outside of the lore, we kill him multiple times every raid,
LFR, etc and collect Titans/secrets off him - BUT - we don't need to.
You can collect those things without ever touching him (although I feel
I'd be collecting Titans for the next year if so). But as far as lore
goes, how does a quest line have you kill a boss, celebrate the killing
(Wraithon happy he is dead, etc), now go collect these stones, and then
kill him again?? He's dead according to the questline. There's not
even a mention that "because his heart wasn't taken when killed with the
lance, he was not really dead or was able to come back to
life"....Nothing. Bliz is usually pretty good with quest line flow but
I think they missed this one...lol.

I had at least 40 attempts in that scenario even _After_ the nerf of the
boss when I did it on my mage. I know that as I used 2 stacks of
healing pots inthere. :) My lock killed him in second or third attempt
thanks to my void sherman tank which pulled all aggro from me. So some
classes has their primetime there while other classes gets their bum
kicked and r*ped.

Dunno what healer class you play. But I thought healers had a good
chance for a win in that scenario? Have you checked wowhead and other
sites for possible tips and tricks?

Anyhoo. Luckily both scenarios are completely different. :)

Holy Pally. You can check him out: Vamoose/Misha-US. ilvl 519

I suspect I'm just not playing the scenario right. Yes, I've checked Wowhead.

Ah. One of my guildies did his scenario either as pally tank or dps. I
cant remember which one. After he read some tricks on wowhead he did it
in maybe 10 attempts.

Well. One of the tricks is to kill the small add asap when that spawns.
It banishes your defender for some time so kill it right away. Also
its important to heal up your defender if youre able to do that (I know
nothing about pallies so...). :)

I did it on my arcane my Saturday and got him on my 3rd attempt.... :)

I pretty much did as above with a couple of minor differences.....First,
I didn't hit him with much at the beginning. I just focused on survival
until he brought in the adds. At that point, I kited them a second or
two over to the front entrance (opposite of the balcony) without
obviously letting them touch me before I turned invisible. I found this
let me have the entire balcony available for the fight without fear of
aggro near the top of the stairs. Once I got him up there I used my
mirror images so they could be off CD after he did his mirror thing down
on the floor. While he did that, I did as described above and stayed
near the rail of the balcony waiting. I learned to watch my character
portrait during this time as I had no aggro. The second it turned red I
knew the phase had ended and wrathion was coming after me. It allowed
me to get a full mana shield and be ready to run before he ran up the
stairs and became visible with his "AH-HA!!" that he yells as the first
thing he does is cast the cone.

With regards to set up, after the first attempt so I could see what I
was dealing with, I took stock in my abilities. I felt that the rune of
power was pretty much useless as your not standing long very long for
any benefits, plus the longer cast time is a waste. That, and he nukes
the spot you were standing in anyway for the remainder of the fight so
you can't even set up two and run back to the previous. So - I ditched
that and took the evocation ability, and changed out my glyph to allow
the 60% heal when it's used. This allowed me to easily heal myself
during the break when your waiting for him to come back. That part
almost feels like a boxing match where you go to your corners in between
rounds and it lasts for quite a while...lol. It also gave me the choice
while fighting for the 1-2 times that I did take a hit, to blink and
evocate rather than hit him. To be honest there was only one time I was
down on my health past 80% during the fight until the last part. I got
a little over zealous on my last attempt when his health was down to 10%
as I wanted to wrap it up before another "hide on the balcony" phase, so
I got a little stupid. I defeated him with only about 10% of my health
left.

It was kinda a fun fight, but to be honest, I felt a little like
cheating it. I think Blizzard needs to revisit this fight and make some
changes. I don't think they intended you to drop aggro from the adds,
and be able to hide on the balcony and never get involved in such a long
phase they obviously meant for us to spend time dealing with (his mirror
phase). On the flip side, I think the damage from the fight would need
to be adjusted if they want us fragile clothies to survive without
hiding from it. The damage from some of the abilities combined with the
touch of death from the adds is really a lot.

My friend is up to working on it today with his pally. He had a
tremedously difficult time on the solo scenario in the forge as he is a
tank/healer pally (pre-nerf). Tank was impossible, and after 50+
attempts he managed it on heals...barely. He did it on his priest and
got it on the 3rd attempt so that fight is really out of whack. Anyway,
he should have a better time with this - or at the very least he has two
choices. If he's having a hard time with the Red Crane temple on heals,
he can try the Black Ox tanking fight instead or via-versa....
