50% of paid character service ends June 10 2013

| || ||| ||||| || |

questions at end, there really are questions not just junkmail reposts :-)

statement

reference
http://wow.joystiq.com/tag/character...

Also email
at least the email gives the time, useful for people on the other side of
the planet where a date is rather imprecise.

"Hurry, as this offer on character services ends Monday, June 10 at 11:59
p.m. PDT."
So its, umm...zone, daylight saving...umm 4:29pm tuesday 11th?
Better than, umm is that today, tomorrow or yesterday?

This is for US accounts, now if only they did this..next week.
I suppose there will be more.

Looking at the faq
https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/character-tr...
it says
"What will transfer with my character?
a.. The contents of your character?s bags, bank, and void storage
b.. Your character?s currencies including gold, honor, justice, valor, and
conquest
LEVEL MAX. GOLD
10-30 300g
31-50 1,000g
51-70 5,000g
71-80 20,000g
81+ 50,000g"

Now , here are the **questions**

Not a biggie. I thought gold was lower?
Also I thought there were limits on bank contents? ( maybe I was
remembering guildbank)

And the main one :
Is there some wholesale transfer, like a couple of higher levels, a few
bankers all at once?
Obviously the bankers lose their guildbanks and have to close or sell the
guild/bank, little point if it isn't wholesale.

Two consistent raid guilds on my realm are now non-raiding. 7
raidmembers from one guild and 6 raidmembers from another guild silently
left the realm without a warning yesterday. So the former
medium/high-pop realm - now low-pop (around 2500-3000 active L90 toons)
- I play on is falling apart.
I wish blizz could and would merge two or more low-pop realms instead of
letting them crumble into dust. Of course a merge will make an impact
to the social atmosphere on each realm. Some will fall off and stop
playing. But as it is now even more will stop playing sooner or later.

No limit. So if you have 1M gold and you want to transfer your chars
you have to make a guild and deposit the gold there. But! They will
not transfer a guild unless its level 2 or better.

Luckily its possible to buy a guild with a few levels in it for peanuts.

I will be rebooting, soon, maybe.
But looking at the list sites the old realm is losing pop so I could be
looking to shift
say 6 over to a higher pop realm. Cut price interests me :-)
Catch up expansion then see how it goes.

With so much already cross realm, and so much more cpu power, why do cross
realm zones instead of just merging anyway?

Doesn't seem much point unless they are working towards fewer much higher
pop realms.
It looks like a couple of different teams doing their thing, working out
methods but not much coordination.
Some games have the same pop , trade, chat, guild all one group but in the
world they can select which realm out of however many are allocated.
Like being able to switch between realms if an area is e.g. too heavily
farmed. Higher pop online, more realms.
Farming in a realm (using wow terms) join a group, switch to the groups
realm. Much the same as instances anyway.
Too many farming or questing, switch realm.
Wow seems to have gone the other direction, too low a pop, join realm zones,
more farmers - bad, more questers- good/maybe bad.

They still have to support however many are online at a time, why split
them across so many hard partitioned servers?
The only thing it would change is the sacred AH economy, but more people
per AH means more activity.
Maybe one day.

I left my old guild 2 weeks ago and I'm touring the realms atm.. In
front of my realm's AH I will see 10-15 toons in peak times. I entered
Sylvanas/EU at 12am today and found maybe 100 toons or even more at the
same place outside the peak time. Remarkable. It was my realm back in
the BC days. :)

My criterias:

non-PVP realm
mature guild (im 40 goddammit!)
consistent raiding scheme - I'm open for some DPS-rotation

Tough task. :)

I mean - it was just like my realm back in the BC days. Crowded like
fishes in a barrel.

Thanks for the pointer, I was looking elsewhere. I didn't know abou the
guild gold, that could help.
I suppose I could shift the bankers guildbanks to mains then do guild
transfer on the mains
and make new bankers but $35x6 is getting a bit steep for something that
should be unnecessary.

I will probably end up letting it slide, the cost is only maybe 40% against
it, 30% whythehellshouldihavetopay, 30% can't be bothered. Just have to keep
an eye out for specials.

I know they probably make it costly to avoid exploits, but it doesn't hurt
to make some profit out of mismanaged population balance , eh? :-)

They've just made an interesting announcement in the 5.4 patchnotes
which may help there...

New Feature: Virtual Realms

Virtual Realms are sets of realms that are fused together, and
will behave exactly as if they were one cohesive realm. Players on the
same Virtual Realm will be able to join guilds, access a single
Auction House, join arena teams and raids, as well run dungeons or
group up to complete quests.
Players belonging to the same Virtual Realm will have a (#) symbol
next to their name.

This might perhaps be the best way of managing things tbh, it's
effectively a merge but minus the problems of pissing off everyone who
picked a popular name and has to have it changed (and the headache of
deciding *who* has to change their name if players are equally
active). Although it'll be interesting to see how you type a name to
invite them to stuff or whisper them, maybe it just keeps the
name-realm that you use in crossrealm now, to avoid issues with
duplicate names. Sounds like it'll certainly help the lower pop realms
anyway.

50% off this week, free virtual realms announced next,
I -could- think it was a conspiracy, or I could think some bean counter cut
costs by getting rid of the water coolers.

left hand have you ever met right hand?

[ thats isn't really fair to accountants, the old style bean counters job
is/was important , to make sure there are enough beans for winter and enough
for planting next year
the new bean counter management cut the rations , forward the seed stock and
leverage the margin onto the money market
next year we get to eat paper :-P ]
