Shadow priest proc notification?

John Gordon

11/13/2012 4:54:00 PM

I've been leveling my shadow priest and I have a question about a visual
proc notification that I've been seeing.

It looks like two dark purple parentheses on the screen. I had been
assuming it was for some proc or other, similar to what many other classes
get (i.e. a Fingers of Frost proc on a frost mage, or a Sword and Board proc
on a prot warrior.)

However, looking through my combat log, I don't see what it could be. I
kind of thought it was the Touch of the Grave racial (my priest is undead),
but my wife was also getting them on her blood elf.

Anyone know what it is?

Is it three shadow orbs? That wouldn't show up in the combat log.

It's probably to let you know you have 1 or 2 charges of non-dot removing (0 mana?) Mind Spikes that you can cast.

There should also be a little number 1 or 2 on the Mind Spike button (unless you have a UI add-on that interferes)

I don't think it's the proc that has the free Mind Blast, since I don't think that stacks, but it's been a while since I've been shadow and I'm not at home to check personally.

Most likely it's the Shadow Orbs marker.
Try notice if you get one more when you use the Mindblast or SW:Death
spells.

That was it -- kind of. It's the visual proc notification for the
From Darkness, Comes Light talent; but I don't actually HAVE that talent!
That explains why I wasn't getting a buff or a combat log entry.

I've heard that one can be buggy - are you by any chance getting it
when in a group with another priest? I think it might show up when
another priest procs it or something like that.

I do get it when grouped with another shadowpriest, but I also get it
on my own.
