Gearing down?

Fvert

6/13/2012 3:53:00 PM

For a variety of reasons my main has gotten a high enough gear level
(using mostly pvp epics) to qualify for the Twilight Heroics. The
problem is I want to do the Cata heroics (despite all the negative
stories I am hearing here about recent lfg heroics and lfr). I am doing
them to experience them (haven't done them at all) and for the
achievements.

If I put enough of my higher gear in the bank and swap in lower gear to
get my ilvl down will the LFG tool put me in Cata Heroics?

What number should I be aimning for?

Thanks in advance.

You don't need to....Just select the Cata Heroics from the the drop down
list when queing for a dungeon.... I was running them after I gotten
all I could from the twighlight occasionally just because a) sheerly for
the entertainment value, and b) they give the same valors anyway, and c)
I was getting bored of the twighlight after taking 5 alts through and
hadn't run the old cata dungeons in a long time...

Have fun...

BTW - do yourself a favor and read up on each...You;ll be hard pressed
to find a group that'll explain the fight on each boss anymore, and
despite being over geared (although in pvp) chances are the others won't
be, and it might be a bit of a struggle. There's stuff in some of those
dungeons that'll still kill very high geared players if not done
right,.,...which to me is what I witness when I go through the
most....Players thinking they can muscle their way through now. Corla
will still kick your ass if one or two other players don't know anything
about the beams and you find yourself alone, as well as if you get one
of the newer troll instances...

I'm afraid not. I think that you'd have to destroy the items to
reduce your average item level (which, I'd imagine, isn't what you
want to do)

Perhaps he doesn't have to destroy them, he could mail them to another
toon?

Strike that. They must be soulbound so he can't.

I thought your ilvl was based on what was in your bags and on your person.

Yeah, me too. It doesn't seem to make sense including items in the bank.

Maybe it was a recent change, meant to be a convenience. I used to carry a
few off-spec items just for that purpose; it was a little annoying spending
the bag space; it seems like something Bliz would do.
