MoP Beta: Grumble....

The patch before last, people who hit 89 could continue questing, but
didn't get xp. To my mind, this was kind of pointless, since non-
repeatable quests were used up that later could have been used for
leveling.

The most recent patch allows leveling to 90. I immediately saw chat
complaints from idiots who'd used up all the accessible quests, and
were now stuck.

The last patch also opened up the final world zones, afaict. However,
while there are quests which reward gold and xp, there is NO LOOT in
the new zones. I ran through half a dozen quests before I realized
this, and confirmed it in zone chat. Arghh!!!!!!

So, I'm back to quests in the older zones, and killing random mobs for
xp. No high-level quests until loot starts dropping. Still, I should
be able to gear up my non-leveling spec a bit.

My turn for a grumble, I finally started levelling a bit, really
enjoyed the first three zones. Was on my way to take a look at Kun-Lai
Summit after tonight's patch only to find a fatal error crash on the
tunnel through to it. Can not get through at all (took several
attempts to even recover my corpse via the spirit healer, I suppose I
should be glad I got killed while crashed out as walking out would've
been far worse), and according to someone else on the forums it
affects half the zone, so that's that for there until they patch the
patch.

Well, fair enough, it's beta, these things happen! I'll look at
another zone, here, there's one that starts at lvl 88, I'm like half a
bar from 88, won't take much grinding to find that much exp, no
problem. Umm... except there's no actual way to reach that zone. The
*only* route if you cannot fly (lvl 90 required) is through Kun-Lai
Summit. Right. (Actually, I'm guessing it may be possible to go
through Dread Wastes, if I swim round the bottom of the wall, but
going through an entire zone full of mobs 3 lvls above myself, with
the enormous size of these zones, isn't too appealing :-P)

Oh well, guess it'll stop me spoiling too much more of it for myself
for a while! Really enjoyed all I've seen so far, they've really
managed to bring the continent to life: no, it's not the cutesy panda
stuff that everyone predicted, in fact half the time I'm not even
dealing with pandas, and when I am, it's often in a much more serious
way than you might expect. But for all that, there's fun too - I
really love Valley of the Four Winds, wandering around helping a bunch
of farmers with various odds and ends is fun for a change, brings me
back to my early days of vanilla WoW (remember Elwynn Forest? Well,
similar feel but much more fun, a few things really just made me laugh
out loud). And when you go from there to Krasarang, follow the rather
more serious story through and end up back in VoFW for the finale to
the story, it really works well, albeit I'll grant the very final
fight was a bit too easy, but it did make me smile for the way it
worked out.

If the remaining zones are as good, I'll enjoy this expansion a lot;
as I go round I'm seeing plenty signs of lvl 90 activities as well, I
like that they seem to have put something relevant in every zone, so
the levelling zones aren't just forgotten and ignored as soon as you
hit 90 (being frank, who's set foot in Vash'jir again since they
levelled? I've gone for the Thrall questchain, and occasionally when I
desperately want some Ashara's Veil and the AH prices are insane...
that's it, no other reasons to return, which is a real pity for such a
beautiful zone)

There nothing in Vashjir of interest to me at this point. When I have
to harvest Azsara's Veil, I go to Tol Barad. While the number of spawn
sites is limited, they are all near the surface, so I pop a Water
Walking potion and ride a path taking me down the creek to the fort at
the west end, then run overland to the bay on the north, then down the
creek again. '/tar Tank' suffices to let me track the Big Bad in the
bay on the minimap.

In the duration of one potion (20 minutes for my Herbalist/Alchemist)
I get mutiple stacks of A.V. The only drawback is if even one other
herbalist is working, yield drops way off.

Dammit, I didn't think of that one, given my herber is a druid with
fast swimform it'd be pretty easy! :-)

Yeah, very true, but then same happens in Vash'jir too. Oh well, so
it's a totally useless zone then lol, proves my point that I'm glad
they stuck some worthwhile stuff in every lowbie zone in Pandaria! :-)
