Black Market

Ok, I think I know where I'll be keeping at least one character parked
throughout MoP... this appears to be an extra auction set, listings
"from" various NPCs, with very very rare items on it. I see in there,
recipes, pets (ok, not a super rare one but who knows what else may
show up), a very rare mount and... Tier 3!

All of a sudden I have a reason to start farming up gold again, I
kinda got bored when I had 2 characters at 150k+ and nothing to buy
with it, but given I collect recipes, pets, mounts and wouldn't mind
T3 on a character or two, I've got a lot of things I'll want to buy
there (and I have no doubt that I'm not alone and so prices will be
sky-high, given it's auctions with no buyout)

Hmmm...but...my Rivendare's Deathcharger won't feel so special when I know
people can pop along to the Black Market AH and buy it.. *sad face*

I don't think items like that will be at all common though. There's
been no official announcements about it, but I'd bet that the rarer an
item on live servers, the rarer it'll be on the black market. So your
Rivendare's Deathcharger may show up once every 2-3 months (as a
random number I puloled out of the air but which seems a realistic
guess) - probably a lot more people get it via good oldfashioned
farming the instance than would get it via the black market in the
same space of time.

Might well be there's fairly often one rare mount up at a time, but
given just how many very rare mounts are around after seven years of
WoW, each individual mount won't be up very often. And given the
amount of effort that goes into getting enough gold to outbid everyone
else on the server*, it'll still be a pretty big thing to get hold of
one, even if it's via a different method to usual.

*Yes, I'm not allowing for the losers who just buy their gold, really
hope Blizz has some plans to stamp that out or else this black market
will backfire spectacularly... :-/

It's only 20k if nobody else on the server bids on it. Care to wager
how likely THAT is to happen?

That's the starting price, being an auction with bidding and no
buyout, I would think the selling price would be several hundred k...

Not at all likely IMO. I do have a cunning plan of finding out where
this black market is, and parking a character there on release day
though, see if I can grab anything cool before most people have found
it, since competition will be lower at first. Problem is, I suspect
all the richest people who most want rare stuff will be taking the
same approach to me, and I'm not all that rich comparitively speaking
(I'm richer than many, but way below the real AH players).

Well, you still have time to become the WoW uncle Scrooge.

Do we know if these items will be BOE, soulbound or bind to account?

eh, tanks and healers in my guild have already got that, the green
proto-drake and others that took me ages to grind. Kinda sad I agree..

good question.

I'd bet on my server , Azuremyst, they'd not go as they might elsewhere. I
popped on the AH one day and spotted THREE gamecard mounts all listed by the
same person for 70k each. While I took a few hours umming over spending all
my gold to flip them back onto the AH, someone bought them all up :/

One reappeared and has been sitting at 300k since then..

what would be nice is for players to have the ability to list BoP mounts on
this black market. I'd love to be able to do something more practical with
green protodrakes than simply typing DELETE every time I get another

sounds like it's time to buy gold. If they ban you, then you've been
saved from WoW.
