L85 PVP and levelling up

usenet

5/8/2012 1:07:00 PM

I'm back playing WoW for a while, having finished Mass Effect 3 and got
bored of Battlefield 3 :)

Over the past week I have taken my prot specced warrior from L70 to L85,
dinging 85 a couple of days ago with just under 5 days played. Not
amazing speed, but I stopped to do a lot of PVP at L68-69-70.

I hadn't played any pvp since season 11 started, and the last time I
played was on my Hunter. In the past few months, it seems that everyone
has massively geared up! :D At 150k stamina on my warrior, a few months
ago I could expect to be one of the higher stam characters in the BG,
yet this weekend everyone was 150k and above, no matter what character,
and I even saw a few DKs at 200k+.

Has the pvp world really moved on so quickly? Or were my few games this
weekend an anomaly?

Quickly? This season started like 5-6 months ago... Just by doing tol barad
and 1 BG win every day not more you would be full ruthless with serveral
cataclismic pieces a few months ago.
It's more than you moved slowly (or not at all) since you didnt play for so
long.
I didnt really play wow for like 2 months now and even last times I played I
played only a few BG every day and I have all 10 classes on lvl 85, all of
them in full ruthless and all of them have like 4-5 cataclysmic pieces with
cataclysmic weapons on all too...
All people that did ONLY the arena cap (without big rating) every week are
already full cataclysmic...

Anyone who plays on an active Arena team or does rated BGs has a full set
of Conquest gear by now, which has 150k health unbuffed.

The DK's extra health probably came from stamina trinkets and gems, which
they use for flag carrying.

Or they're blood. My blood DK with only 4 pieces of conquest gear has
around 181k unbuffed so hitting 200k buffed in full conquest is pretty
much guaranteed, no stam trinkets or gems required.

Oh, right. I forgot the stam bonus from being in tank form.

Blimey, has it been so long, time really does fly :)

I guess my point was more around when I was last playing, at the end of
Season 10, on average each BG would be made up of around 20% well
geared, 50% moderately geared and 30% with poor gear.

This time, at the end of Season 11, 60% are well geared, 40% are
moderately geared and 0% are poorly geared, in the games I have played
so far.

Just wondering why the difference, is there less to do so people are
doing more pvp?

You have to consider the changes in gear level. Someone who only has 4
pieces of current PvP gear now is gonna have more health and higher
stats than someone who only had 4 pieces of gear in S10. So even the
poorly geared people are gonna seem better geared than they were
before, the moderately geared people will be looking more like what
the well geared people were in S10, and the high geared people,
well...they'll stand out. There's also the fact that randoms award
conquest points now, so even people who don't do arena can start
getting conquest pieces too.

Possible, though as I've been full PvP for several seasons, it would
be difficult for me to say. What has made much more of a difference is
the addition of Conquest Points for Random BGs, and Call to Arms BGs.
100 for the first win daily, 50 for each subsequent one, people don't
even have to run Arenas anymore to get Arena gear (though running them
does make it much quicker).

There's another way of getting conquest - collect justice points and
convert them.

JP converts to Honor. VP converts to Conquest.

Oh yeah. Well I almost got it right :-)
