Ironman week

Well, this week all I've done is play my ironman characters (player
created challenge, basically only white/grey gear allowed, no potions,
no outside assistance and the big one: die and you have to reroll),
not sure I've even logged into any of my high lvls - it's fun doing
something different for a change, and the low lvl zones are much more
challenging to work through this way; been a long time since I've
found myself switching zone regularly to get easier quests! So far
I've had 5 characters:

Iarnaig, troll rogue - died lvl 33 in Sargeron (Desolace); aggroed
stealthed adds with vanish on cd and sprinting away aggroed more,
oops.
Iarnaigii, troll shaman - still alive but only lvl 3, been playing my
alliance characters mostly.
Iarnaigtri, worgen priest - died painfully at lvl 4 after NPCs
abandoned him in a group of aggressive worgen and didn't help him out
:-(
Iarnaigiv, worgen mage - survived Gilneas, died in a cave in Darkshore
having not noticed a dead critter lets off a nasty cloud of poison.
Iarnaigv, gnome rogue - still alive! Lvl 35 and counting, several near
misses but hoping to get further :-)

Rogue is a fantastic class for this at lower lvls, stealth, sap, stuns
and evasion, plus of course vanish, let me avoid a lot of potentially
bad situations and give me an escape card if I find something's too
tough. I'm finding stuff is starting to hit me pretty hard now though,
many regular mobs take a big chunk off my health and a lot of named
quest mobs just can't be done until I seriously outlvl them*. I
started out trying to stick to yellow difficulty quests but now I'm
regularly jumping zones to get my quests to green, since a lot are
just too hard while yellow. And I'm only 35, a long way to go yet!

One rogue in the US made it to 69, from all I've read of his tales of
Outland, I won't get that far lol, remember finding that place hard on
my human rogue in TBC, when I was fully geared rather than just
wearing whites. Will see how far I get anyway, after this one dies I
might skip randomising the next one and deliberately pick something a
bit easier - hunter seems by far the best for this challenge, or
warlock for slightly harder (no feign death) but at least stronger
than a rogue! ;-)

*Best quest yet was Stitches in Duskwood - I was 29 when I was passing
through there and thought a 23 elite can't be that hard, can he? Um,
yes... cheap shot, evasion, already took a chunk of dmg through that
and then he crit me for 200 (I had 600 health total at the time, so
took me below half health after the other dmg), decided vanishing was
wise lol. Fun thing with that quest is the NPCs fighting him don't
take dmg and die, but keep him in combat so his health doesn't reset,
meaning with a lot of patience I did get him down, nuking then
vanishing, and waiting for vanish cd to rinse and repeat. Only took 4
vanish cds and 10 minutes :-P

Very Cool :)

I started running only the second half of DS on my main, as as I'm only
interested in the weapons and those sporadic 390 drops if I'm lucky.
I'm just about there with my #1 alt DK as well. I get the rest of my
valor from the 3 dungeons, so this is freeing up more time for me. I
still run both halves with my #3 alt (rogue) and finished him up Sat.
night. I finally started healing both halves and have to say I'm
satisfied...Usually sitting 4th in heals, but finished 1st in heals/last
in overheals on my resto druid on the first half and 3rd in heals on the
second half. I still have mana issues...not sure what else I can do
about it. Guess I just gotta start watching and being more selective
in who and when someone gets heals.....starting with not wasting it on
dps who like to stand in crap (esp the last boss trash on the 1st half)

Anyway, this lead to having enough time last night where my 2 of my
other guildies went over and ran DS the first time on out sister Horde
guild which we've been neglecting (main guild and toons first!) It's
been a while since I've played my lock and was only about 9-10th on the
dps list, but respectable. Seem to be better where I don't have to move
much....But maybe that's because it's been so long since I played her
that I'm staring at buttons looking for what I'm going to do next, and a
lock has a lot of them! lol Got my shoulders on the first boss, so -
cool. We'll run the 2nd half tonight.

Did have fun though - Sometimes it's just a nice change when you really
don't give a damn about drops, maxing out your dps, etc and just have
some fun. Part of the reason we created this sister Horde guild in the
first place :)

The only negative...in some respects - I forsee myself finishing running
the LFR for all my 85's before the summer, where I won't be needing
anything from them. As we don't (as of now) actively raid in regulars
(which we started agreeing, we don't really miss - it's nice not being
on a schedule, *having* to be logged on at a certain time, 3 nights a
week) - soooo, I guess that's it until the Pandas? Which is fine by
me - Plan to be gone a lot during the summer out camping and family
activities, so....okey-the-dokey by me anyway. :)
