Odd behaviour in instances last night

I ran two instances last night - The Stonecore and The Vortex Pinnacle
- and they were very odd runs.

The oddities started just before the last boss of The Stonecore. The
tank pulls the guys before the boss and dies in seconds. The boss
didn't get involved or anything like that, it was just that the guys
that normally hit like little kids seemed to be hitting like the rest
of the mobs in the instance. The previous guys of the same type were
fine - it was just the three packs before the boss that were wrong.

The trash in The Vortex Pinnacle was really, really hard. Each pull
did more damage than normal and lasted ages. It was so bad that I had
to do the triage type healing where I mainly healed the tank and tried
to keep the DPS alive (instead of keeping them at full health). I
also needed to start using mana spring totem (which I haven't needed
in this instance before - water shield is normally all I need) and
even potions and mana tide totem where I could.

It was almost as if we'd accidentally been placed into a heroic
instance (at level 83 / 84) but the bosses were fine.

It was a lot of effort but we managed it (well three of us made it -
two quitters dropped out :P)

Was it the same tank?
Did you try inspecting the tank? Did they accidentally change gear
sets just before the last boss in SC and not realise? A dps set of
gear would be more noticeable on trash than on bosses, since in boss
fights the tank's only getting hit every couple of seconds while in
trash without CC they're getting hit 3 or 4 times a second. What kind
of tank anyway?

It was the same tank and he was a warrior tank.

It's a good theory about him swapping gear - it would certainly
explain the increased damage that he was taking.

It could explain what I was seeing in Vortex Pinnacle to some degree
but I think that it couldn't explain it all. Fights lasted longer and
other people were taking too much damage too.

Fights could have seemed to be lasting longer because of the stress
but I think that they lasted much too long for that. Other players
could have seemed to have been taking more damage because I didn't
have time to top them up. Again, I think that the amount of damage
that they were taking was way too high to be explained that way.

I did Vortex Pinnacle and Stonecore today with different tanks and
they were both really easy. So easy that I started with lightning
bolt spam and I don't even have the Telluric Currents talent. :P

I'm getting a bit bored of those two instances now - they have been my
only option in the random dungeon finder for a while and it seems like
I've run them way too many times (about 6 or 7 runs). They're both
always dead easy too (except for those two runs).

I can't wait until I get to level 85 when Halls of Origination, Grim
Batol and the Lost City open up. I already have the correct gear
level for them so all I need is half a level or so.
