SF

my guild is getting emptier by the day, more and more people aren't
coming for raids and I know from a few that they went to play star wars.
How is that with your guild/server?

same on the server I am on our day time raid group one of the few ones on
our server has died due to star wars plus people being generally bored with
the game

I can remember people leaving other games to go play WoW. There was talk
for months before it came live people couldn't wait for it.
Maybe it's time has come.

This happens with every new MMO release - people stop playing WoW,
play new game, reach max lvl, get bored, come back to WoW a few weeks
later. Haven't seen anything to indicate that SW is any different to
normal, it's certainly got zero appeal to me based on videos I've
seen.

Thi is also that stage in an expansion's cycle where people tend to
look for new stuff to do anyway - we've had the last major content
patch (although given MoP isn't even in beta yet it wouldn't surprise
me if they add something new before the end anyway to fill time a bit,
much like Ruby Sanctum in WotLK), so it's just a case of marking time
till MoP comes really, folk who like levelling and gearing alts have
plenty to do still, those who invest everything into their main will
be getting bored.

My six man guild is down to just two of us, and three have not
logged in for roughly 30 days. I'm assuming they are still
enjoying SWTOR, but I'm expecting them back any day now, as the
free month peters out.

I have no independent knowledge that it sucks, I just don't
believe it's better than WoW.

We haven't gotten any back from Rift or SW yet that left a few months
ago, but we have gotten a few back who had taken a break from the game.
I suspect what will happen is that people will balance time between a
few as they'll come back to WoW, gear up, run the new stuff, get bored,
switch back to SW, get bored, play some Rift, get bored, play the new
Elder Scrolls, get bored, come back to WoW for the Panda-modium...Stay a
few months....etc, etc, etc....and the rotations continue.. :) Then
there are some of us who don't have that kind of time. THe ones who
came back the last few weeks, I have spoken to about this, and they all
say the same thing about the other games: They don't have the time
commitment to put into them. They don't want to start all over. They
have families now...things come up, they have to take a leave for a few
weeks, or month(s). But when they come back, some things have
changed....things added, things removed, abilities tweaked....but
Stormwind and Org are still where they were, there is still constant PvP
going on in Goldshire, herbs to be picked, AH to take care of,
etc,etc....It's all about the time thing with them....

That's the main reason I don't take up new games out of simple
curiosity any longer. I can stand to save the cash, of course,
but the time that great games I've missed, like Dragon Age and
Skyrim, require is what I really can't invest.

I spend most of my time playing low-level battlegrounds right
now, or doing activities to support that activity. High-level PVP
is a sometime thing, and high-level PVE is, for now, being
ignored completely.

This is why I dont like high level play. I have been playing sincd
2007 and I realized early on that there really was not much to high
level play unless you really like PVP I dont and I suck at it. I play
locks and a naked lock is just a powerful as a full clotheed lock. why
would I enjoy pvp if in a BG that druid and rogues camp on my toon. I
know I can do damage. why do you think I am the first toon killed. the
rule seems to be KILL the LOCK dont pass go just kill that sucker."

Actually, not really. While I'll admit that my Lock gets focused on
occasionally in TB, which is the ultimate battleground, all of my
toons tend to draw the oppositions' attention, and if my Lock can keep
them from attacking our healers, she's done half of her job (the other
half being to kill/tie up their healers, of course).

A geared Lock is supposedly very, very tough at level 85 PVP. But
the main reason you're getting ganked is probably low resilience,
and, well, Rogues like getting kills.
