LFR questions

So I was thinking about trying the new LFR and the new instances but I have
a big problem... I have only pvp gear on all my chars. I have full ruthless
and my ilvl is around 390 but still it's pvp gear...
I don't really want to go farm everything low lvl and get all pve gear just
to see this stuff once since I'm not really interested in hardcore raiding.
I have all classes on 85... what would be best to see the new stuff with
least problems? A healer (priest, pala, shaman)? A ranged dps (mage, hunter,
lock)? A melee (warrior, rogue, DK, feral)?
Will having pvp gear (all enchanted and gemmed) be such a huge problem to
see this stuff once?

All I can tell you, is that I *have seen* people booted from the raid
(yes, even the LFR version) for wearing PvP gear. A lot of times you
get in the instance and are waiting to get started you *know* that
someone is checking everyone out. On one of my runs I got the "vote to
kick" window with a reason of "PvP gear" as the reason for boot. I
didn't get a chance to click as it passed before I was able to, meaning
the majority approved of the boot. Not saying that it will happen, just
that it's a possibility. If Blizzard's LFR tool allows you to que, then
I guess it's ok by Blizzard. My Druid is ineligible right now as he was
the last I got going and his ilevel is 369 (need 370 or 372 I think to
get in), so if your able to que, Bliz is saying you have the ability to
do it....What your group decides is out of your hands.

All that said, as far as class? I personally like seeing an instance as
a ranged dps the first time, but that's just me. It allows me to see
the whole picture and everything going on. When I heal, I spend more
time focused on meters, so I see stuff peripherally - Not the way I want
to see things the first time. Melee I tend to zoom in a bit (I guess
mainly because I know at that point whats going on around me). There is
slightly more to do on ranged, but it's up to you. Just do yourself a
favor and watch or just read the in-game info on the bosses before you
go in so you know what to expect. Nothing to cement your fate than
wearing PvP gear AND ending up dead every fight... :)

Don't forget also, about the roll bonus. The higher your dps, the
higher your roll bonus....But if your not in it for the gear, that
shouldn't matter to much to you....

Good Luck! :)

If you can pull decent dps, there's nothing wrong with pvp gear, just
so long as you can do decent dps in it - I hear people bitching about
people in full pvp gear who do crap dps, but I'd assume from your
posts here that you know how to play decently enough to be fine with
that kinda ilvl, given 372 is the minimum to join, the stats lost by
being pvp geared will be more than offset by the extra primary stats
gained from higher ilvl. Maybe convert some honor into justice and get
1-2 pieces with pve stats to help. You *may*get kicked if you hit a
group with bad attitude, I'd suggest transmogging it into something
not visibly current pvp gear if possible and you should fly under the
radar unless anyone's really looking for stuff to moan about - if that
happens, then try again and you'll get a better group.

As for class, well, don't be a tank, anyway lol. DPS is probably fine,
there's 17 dps in a raid so you'll blend in and not be noticed even if
you underperform a little, so long as you're not off the bottom of the
charts (and I don't think you would be). Unless you've got a ton of
hit, I wouldn't be a caster though (nor a rogue spec that relies on
poisons); it's 17% spell hitcap for bosses, and you're not likely to
have stacked higher than 5-6% in pvp gear, I assume. Hunters, or 2h
melee dps, should be fine, since they only use 8% hitcap I think, a
little reforging here or there will put you near enough to not matter.

Healing, depends if you have much spirit on your pvp gear or if you
focussed on survivability and throughput (which is perfectly fine for
pvp, but a bad bad thing in long pve bossfights - I run out of mana
most fights and I'm only running one pvp item in my gear!). My pve
gear was 372 ilvl when I started, and I've struggled with mana all
along, usually ok but be warned that people do not know how to avoid
avoidable dmg (which sadly does not oneshot people on raid finder; it
does in normal/heroic - they'd learn faster if it did in raid finder
too!) so healers end up having to compensate a lot for other people's
mistakes. It's not that stressful I find, I just spam all my aoe heals
whenever multiple people take dmg and it's fine, but you definitely
need mana regen or you'll suffer!

I'm in the same group as you. I'm a PvP'er. And it's been a problem.
So, there are plenty of other things to do, especially in a good guild.
I feel very fortunate as small as we are, about 15 active players, I'm
in a great guild.

Depends on the group. I recently leveled a warlock, decked her with
vicious set, all blue PvP gear. had to buy a weapon and a trinket to
get her up to minimum ilevel requirement. My first raid group no one
bothered to check or complain, completed the run with an average of
12k dps,

My second run in Fall of Deathwing however I got booted because of PvP
gear, I waited about 30 minutes and got into another raid in where no
one bothered.

As for enchanting and gemming my advice to you is to put cheap ones if
you are going to discard the gear after you obtain the PVE items.

If you are out of luck and keep on getting into groups that are
constantly checking people for PvP gear here is a little trick I am
doing with my Holy Paladin, After getting booted 3 times for wearing a
mixture of vicious and ruthless gear with a few crafted items I
managed to slip into some unnoticed, when I get in and it is a fresh
one I zone out of the instance, wait until I see the health bars start
dropping meaning that they started I zone in. Assuming that they
already made their initial PvP gear inspection started, in most runs
they do not do a ready check on trash clearing. However you CANNOT do
it on Boss fights, only in trash clearing, if they started a boss you
will be left out until they are done and will not get loot from the
boss.
