Battleground Food and Drink

Fvert

11/5/2011 3:08:00 PM

I have noticed this for awhile but am just now getting around to asking.
Seems like regular food and drink and health and mana pots cannot be
used in BGs and PVP raids like TB. Is this intentional by Blizz and if
so have they said the rationale?

Is the only solution using honor to buy PVP stuff?

I've more than once recently swapped specs on my shadow/disc priest
during a battle in TB, and then sat down to drink to get my mana back
up faster. I have no idea about food.

Some regular food and water works fine, in TB I can use Highland
Spring Water no problem. Can't drink South Island Iced Tea though,
which was annoying after I'd cooked a bunch and had that on my
actionbars instead of water to use it up! Think the restrictions are
probably a spillover from arena and rated BGs where there's very
strong limits on what you can use (virtually nothing), but regular BGs
and TB you should be able to use most things, certainly regular
water/food should be fine, so try different ones if you're having
problems.

Glad to hear that it's not just me. I've noticed this only in TB, but
then again, that's pretty much all I (regularly) run. Yeah, a lot of
the different foods and drinks won't work, but some do (for me, the
specific drink I've found that does is Sparkling Oasis Water, so
that's what my Priest has stocked up on). It was even worse during
Hallow's End, when I found the G.N.E.R.D.s didn't work, so I had to
*try* (didn't succeed) to get the achievement in the first 5 minutes

Yes, my priest was drinking the Highland equivalent (certainly on one
of those occasions whilst standng on top of the keep in the centre of
TB after a death - I don't know if location makes any difference, but
it wouldn't surprise me).

My hunter just tried to eat a Buttery Wheat Roll (i.e. ordinary,
top-end food) just outside of IG, to regain health during a TB battle.
in and failed.

Tricky business, this typing lark.

Yeah I heard people saying the G.N.E.R.D.S didn't work there, so I did
random battlegrounds instead and found they worked fine in those!
Although, getting 10 kills in AV is not a guaranteed deal lol, and
being AV weekend that's what popped the most often, so I sometimes had
to run twice :-P

I think Wintergrasp and TB are treated differently. To get into group
chat for them I have to type /raid whereas things like AV or WSG etc I
type /bg. I never got GNERDS to work in TB or WG but had no problem in
the other battlegrounds.

BG chat for TB not working is a common bug, it should work, but i'd say
50% of the time it doesn't for me.

Obviously according to my blizzard ticket, they know nothing about it,
it is a complete surprise to them, and must be a problem with my
addons... ;)

I used AV precisely because it's so easy to get 10 kills quickly, just by
hanging back from a crowd that's honor-farming and using a ranged AOE to
get credit for their kills. (I only do PVP for the holiday achievements, or
to play with my healing setup.)

You don't need to damage enemies to get credit for kills; you just need
to be nearby.
