Is this a joke? A new continent of Ku Fu Pandas? Are they competing with
Maple Story?

http://i.imgur.com... says it all IMO - pretty bored of the
whining about this, when if people would just take a little time to
read what Blizzard themselves have said, they'd know that Pandaren
have been in the Blizzard lore for many years (long before Kung Fu
Panda ever existed, heck, the first I even heard of Kung Fu Panda was
when people started bringing it up over this; I knew of Pandaren years
ago), there's always been a demand for them from players, and it's
going to be a serious project indeed, plenty of deep lore, and serious
storylines as well as fun ones.

Horde and Alliance invading a peaceful culture's home land and
wrecking it searching for resources and the like whilst fighting each
other over said resources has a *lot* of potential for being very
interesting and fun indeed. Just a shame so many people see the word
"Pandaren" and throw a tantrum without even reading into the details
of it. We haven't even seen more than a fraction of the full story
yet, but there's still more than enough potential there to make me
think it's going to be good. Give it a chance.

Has anyone here played Warcraft III? There was some sort of side
game/adventure with Rexxar and his bear Misha that introduced the
Pandaren Monk.

The kung fu panda guy was great. All of his spells/moves were
drunk/alcohol based. He was with Rexxar and his bear Misha. There was
also a troll named Voljin that was fun to play in the group. I can't
think of the panda's name at the moment. I can't wait for this to go
live just to see the pandas again.

Yep, it was in Frozen Throne. To be honest, I was wondering where he was
coming from.

Chen the Brewmaster? IIRC, there was a quest before Cata in the barrens
about him : you could find Chen's empty barrel and bring it to an orc in
Ratchet. Then, you were asked to find some stuff to make beer, but you
never actually found Chen.

Yeah I remember that quest, meant nothing to me at the time since I'd
not played WCIII, so I looked it up and ended up reading a bunch about
pandaren, loved the idea of them! Didn't actually expect them to
become playable, but what Blizz have said so far makes it sound like
they will indeed be taken seriously, not just done as a joke; I'm
looking forward to learning more, the idea of Brewmasters/monks sounds
really cool, my main problem will be picking what spec to play!

Well, damn. I did not connect Chen's empty barrel with Chen the
Brewmaster at the time. Thank you. /grin

The Pandarian made their appearance in Warcraft 3 (2003), and there
was a serious talk about introducing them in the Burning Crusade
(2007) I remember fan pages putting all kinds of fan art. And that is
all before the Kung Fu Panda film (2008).

Sick and tired of people saying that Blizzard is introducing Kung Fu
Panda while in fact the Pandarian was there before that stupid film.

Sick and tired of Blizzard dumbing down the game for the masses. I quit and
no you cannot have my stuff. Once Diablo 3 comes out WoW will be a ghost
town.

Since Vanilla, Blizzard has followed a commendable process of
streamlining gameplay. This usually involved removing arcane,
fiddly systems like Pet Training, which has been gone so long
that nobody misses it. They recently removed pet happiness, as
another example.

Pet happiness had a certain role-playing flavor, but it was so
rudimentary: you just had to buy the right food. If you imagined
this connected you to your pet, it was mostly in your head. And
when it's mostly in my head I don't need the boring happiness
system to prop it up.

Here's the critical part: the pet happiness system was not
difficult. At all. Removing it did not make the game easier.

Apologies if anyone thinks I went too far with that post - I've been
getting increasingly sick of the relentless negativity on the official
forums, MMO Champion forums, etc etc, and seeing it on here too made
me snap and say what I've been wanting to say to all of the whiners as
a collective whole - wasn't actually meant as a personal attack, so
sorry for that!
