Weekend activities

usenet

10/31/2011 1:34:00 PM

Not much this weekend, Battlefield 3 was bought, so that will be taking
up a bit of time for the foreseeable future.

Got leatherworking up to 525, not too bad in the end, spent about 2
hours grinding spiders over the course of the weekend. With one 50
minute session on the firelands spiders netting me 230 savage leather,
which isn't too bad at all! Might go back when I need cash as that is
about 1500g an hour if I sold them all.
All being well a lot of the crafted stuff will sell on the AH this week
and i'll get my money back, at least.

No mount drops for the HH still, but I did do the quest chain to get my
creepy crate

Archealogy is at 65 now, very slow going, bored already :D

Other than that, not much. I'll try and do a few more PvP rounds this
week and get more honor items.

I hadn't thought of farming those spiders! Been doing the Tol Barad
ones when I want leather, I'll give Molten Front a go then, would be
great if that's faster, since I've got a lot of recipes to buy...

Same on mount luck, think todays the last day so one last shot tonight
then. Not expecting anything. Got crates and cats on 8 of my
characters now, guild has gained 40% of a lvl since Hallows End
started, not bad going!

>Archealogy is at 65 now, very slow going, bored already :D

Hehe be glad you're not doing what I'm doing: trying to get Tol'Vir
sites to proc in the hopes of getting a Canopic Jar... which may not
even contain the recipe I want anyway. Annoyingly the recipe is BoP so
I had to level Arch on a second character; my main already did a lot
and now my ruid's farming for the mount recipe, sigh.

>Other than that, not much. I'll try and do a few more PvP rounds this

I seem to have started levelling my paladin a bit, 82 now, aiming for
guild honoured to count towards Working As A Team, once I get that I
just have to get 2k more rep on my blacksmith and 20 more skillpoints,
not too far to go!

Also been spending much time playing with modelviewer to pick out
transmogrification outfits, that's pretty addictive tbh! Biggest
triumph so far is finding a way to use my priest's T11 robe, which I
do actually quite like (unusual for any tier sets post TBC; I've not
been a big fan of many), while neither having access to nor liking the
tier shoulders (frankly, they look like toilets or something lol) -
turns out there's just one pair of shoulders in WotLK dungeons which
are a pretty good match, not perfect since they have a grey edging and
the robe has gold trim, but then I found a cloak with the same basic
colours and grey trim which brings it all together a bit more. Also
had to laugh when I was looking for gloves to go with a robe my
warlock found - found the perfect look, the name looked Firelandish
and I thought "argh, it won't be available"... oh, it's warlock T12,
which will of course be available for justice points when 4.3 hits.
Perfect! :-)

This week's goals: try and farm some of the items I'm wanting for
transmogrification, lvl paladin a bit more, work my shaman through Tol
Barad dailies for the mace, bit embarassing having a crappy green
dagger when the rest of my gear is at least blue!

No Horseman drops for me this year either, but I got the plate helm on
my frost DK and rings on all my toons, and I did get the mount on two
toons last year, so I'm not going to complain. I would have like it on
one of my toons on the Horde side, as I think my warlock would have
looked good on it...Got the creepy crates too...

Leveled Archeology fully on one toon....once, on my main just to do
it...never again...Just could not stand it. Maybe if they made it more
interesting and involved, I'd check it out again, but I think I'd rather
get a root canal right now. By involved, maybe if they added different
tools, hammers, picks, brushes that could be utilized, or at least a
Arch vendor that you could buy upgraded tools from as you leveled? At
least the crappy items recovered with these tools would be worth more at
vendors by higher leveled archeologists as "more care" was taken during
recovery so they are in better shape. Maybe better tools could also
give better chances at recovery/better items? How about a questline to
take you on some adventure?

Even fishing, I did the rep up at the Kal...Kav...ah, screw it - the
Walrus people in Northrend - to get rep up for the fishing pole they
offered.... I think the thing most people got turned off from Arch was,
there really aren't too many rewards. I mean, the drake is nice but
what about anything else? When cata first came out, there was a nice
staff and boy emporer ring possible, but have these been upgraded or new
stuff added in later patches to make it worth it? I really don't know.

I dunno - right now it's fly, fly, fly across half of Azeroth, hammer -
nope, close, hammer, closer, hammer - nope to far, hammer closer, hammer
- there it is. Repeat 2 ore times if your lucky. Look at map - Ahh,
next closest site is all the way back where you came from the dig
before....repeat, repeat, snore.... Thanks, but no. Just feels like not
a lot of thought when into the Arch profession when they designed
it....I understand that some really do like it, but it's just not for me.

I like those ideas! I do enjoy archaeology, but it could have an awful
lot more added to it in my opinion. Wandering round the world digging
is kinda relaxing when I'm not doing much anyway, but it's a bit
repetitive too, more details to it would be great. Never really
understood why you couldn't turn drops in to archaeology trainers for
rewards or something, instead of treating them as vendor trash!

Well, a couple more things got added, couple of pets and a shield, but
thats about it. And I can't even get the nice BoA epics to drop; got
two of the rings (um, between Headless Horseman and Molten Front,
guess what I've got plenty of, at a higher ilvl...) and that's all.
Couple of alts could use the staffs or my paladin will lvl into the 2h
sword or shield but no luck. Could use some more stuff in 4.3, it's
been very quiet for a long time; I rather think the last additions
were in 4.1 rather than 4.2.

Can understand that - I do enjoy it but then it gives me an excuse to
fly around the world, look at areas I don't usually visit, pick a few
herbs or mine some ores, just beats standing in Org being bored for
me! I'd be very happy if they added more depth to it though, it's
always felt a bit half-finished.

It was much quicker, they are all low level, rather than the higher stam
mix of spiders in TB, and spawn quickly, I never had to wait once, it
was just kill, loot, repeat. If there are a couple of others there
doing their dailies then staying in the middle cauldron with the 3
spiders is perfect. As soon as you kill them all, another 2 pop
immediately, so you don't even have to move, just kill a load and mop up
the drops and leather when you get bored.

If you are lucky then there will be a couple of people doing the dailies
and looting, but not skinning, so that is free money. If you are
unlucky then they will be killing but not looting, which is very
annoying :D

As I said, 230 leather in 50 minutes is much much faster than I got in
TB :)

Sounds great, I'll give it a try, thanks! (Bet you'll be cursing
telling me this if we both try to farm the same spot at the same time

:D

Two people farming makes it even faster for both though, as there are
enough spiders for two, or even three farmers, and more people farming
means faster respawns. Three people farming at one point meant I didn't
even have to move, just kill as the spiders spawned in front of me :)

Oh, and my two blackened dragonscale helms sold overnight, for 1150g
each :)

Was Warsong Gulch Call To Arms. I was very busy, and had an
awesome time getting a lowbie Hunter from 15 to 21.

It takes forever to buy Honorlooms at the low levels I've been
playing.

I think it was, but I didn't do any BGs over the weekend, other than a
couple of TBs.

Oh yes, the jump in honor accrued at L85 is pretty extreme!

Call To Arms is the ony way for a PVP toon to level as fast as a
questing toon. On the other hand, I like the slow pace of PVP
leveling, as I can slowly incorporate the ridiculous
combinatorial explosion of abilities as they come in.

I need to just don the crafted Bloodthirsty gear with my 85 Druid
and have at it. I'm amazed at how few players take advantage of
the Honor heirlooms. It's like they don't even exist. I have only
one, and it's usually the only one I see.

Regular heirlooms on the other hand are ubiquitous.

Did some Halloween achievement/buckets for XP, some Gurubashi Arena with
the druid too (6 tokens, 6 to go),

The guild did some wipes on Bethilac (big spider in Firelands) and then we
went to Twilight Hold (Halfus already dead, so we killed the dragons, and
wiped two or three times on the counsil before calling it a night).

I was a little bored with wow these days, may be the Halloween farm, so I
read the Sylvanas story on the official site, and took my low level hunter
to finish silverpine. Very nice story line. A little strange that a random
new forsaken like me could ride with Sylvanas, but that was great to see
what happened with the three boss of Shadowfang keep.

By the way, no mount with the horseman (but another 32 gold trash (the helm
:p))
