Hallow's End 2011 - The Good Bad & Ugly (Sort of)...

Orion Ryder

10/19/2011 1:20:00 PM

The Ugly - sorry but going against the tradition of doing them in
order and instead starting off with the ugly first

The whole thing has been changed so much that yesterday it looked
ugly.

Well it still sort of looks ugly.

I think that anything that is nerfed so much that it takes away our
ability to gripe about anythingand by this I mean we can't gripe at
all. We have essentially been handed "gimmes" on this one with the
masks.

No more probability studies or Monte Carlo simulations are needed or
so it appears.

No more having to load in toons when the hourly timer runs out to go
up to the inn keeper.

It has gotten ugly in a different way though. The more treats you want
the more traveling you have to do.

The Bad

Well instead of being able to run around and play your normal game and
hit an inn every hour you have to travel around and hit up the bins.

The Good

Not sure if this will affect anyone else but for me and our little
family guild running around and hitting the bins on multi PCs loads up
a lot of guild XP. This I like. Level 12 has just gotten a lot easier
to get to.

Well thats all I have time for now. Catch you all later.

OH! OH! OH!

Hehe some would consider it good but yeah I think it's gone a little
too much too easy now, keeping it at least some kind of a challenge
would've been nice! Maybe just making the masks cost a lot more
treats, so you want to get lucky on drops to avoid needing to buy too
many. The way it is now, getting a mask is more a nuisance "dammit
another bagslot filled" since they're so cheap you can buy the lot for
not much work!

True but then with the new Northrend and Cataclysm achievements plus
new quests, I got enough for my cat pet and missing masks very easily,
hit a few unnecessary buckets while travelling to quest destinations
to make sure I had enough treats and bam, easymode! Any character who
didn't already have the bucket achievements will get more than enough
treats, my shaman was sitting on nearly 300 by the time I finished up
last night.

Hehe true, at least it lets you sleep though ;-)

I like it too! Gained 1.7 million exp last night, and that was only
running 2 characters, one of which had the old achievements so didn't
do all buckets. Hopefully with work on may alts I can get my guild a
good chunk towards lvl 7 :-)

Oh yeah and for anyone who's got characters that aren't guild exalted
yet... all buckets at lvl 85 while wearing a +100% guild rep tabard
and making the best of the +10% rep buff from lighting the Wickerman =
5k rep, pretty nice! I'll have to run a few more alts around I think,
although I think those below 85 will get less rep, still pretty handy
though!

Onew annoyance on the pumpkins - I am doing all the achievemnts on my
alternate "main". IN getting the Cataclysmic pumpkins I havent' yet been
to Twilight Highlands so got there by Zepellin, npc flight and my own
flight. Visited all 4 locations and came to Dragonmaw hold last and it
turns out the pumpkin must be phased. So now I have to do the who quest
chain with all the cinematics just to get the Dragonmaw final pumpkin.

Yeah my warlock's going to hit a similar issue with Vash'jir I think,
unless I magically autolearn the seahorse points (which I might, I
guess), but even then one has to be swum to, and while at least I do
have water breathing as a warlock, it'll be slow as hell with no
seahorse, ho hum. Actually, dammit, my shaman hasn't been there
either. Greeeat, 2 characters having to do the entrance to the zone
then. At least both had been to Twilight Highlands though.

If your toon has flier, and you know the coords, you can fly to the
right point on the ocean surface then just dive down.

IIRC you get the sea legs on the second quest to the water zone. And
the sea horse travels 410% which beats flying by 100%.

Hopefully the pumpkins at the "inns" are accessible before the actual
phasing takes place.

I had something similar in westfall with phasing. My 80 paladin found the
pumpkin in the inn, but my chaman found the inn (and other buldings)
burning, and the pumpkin was in the tower. Did you check all places in
Dragonmaw Hold?

My level 80 Alliance char was able to get all the pumpkin in Twilight
Highland, but maybe it's different with horde.

While I haven't been to Twilight Highlands on Alliance yet, I'm
suspecting you don't have to perform a coup to remove a fel-tainted
leader from one of your towns before you can get down to questing ;-)
Horde do lol, have to say I liked that questchain, since last time we
met any Dragonmaw was indeed the ones keeping the Netherwing as
slaves, so cool to see the links between the two branches and to get
rid of the fel orc in charge! But it does mean that the town is
heavily phased and since the inn is an entire new building by the end
of the phasing then I'm not too sure there's likely to be a bucket
anyplace that is unphased :-/

For alliance you need to run some "detective work" quests in Stormwind to
open up the TH quests.
