Nice when it works out like that! Rather better than my experience
with an AFK person the other day...

Tol Barad, I join an attacking battle, run to IG which we hold and
prepare to defend it, only other person there is a tauren paladin, who
stops moving when I arrive...

Ally paladin arrives, I put SW:P up, wait for tauren pally to
attack... he doesn't.

I kite ally pally around for a while, healing myself, tauren pally
stands there, AFK tag comes up. Great...

I continue to kite ally pally around, thanking my lucky stars his dmg
is seriously crap and nobody else has come to help him, meanwhile
cursing the tauren pally who is *still* afk...

I'm almost oom but slowly dragging down ally pally's health when a
friendly shadowpriest arrives! /cheer. Unfortunately so do an ally
mage and DK...

Tauren pally makes a useful meatshield, I save mana by not healing
him, but we still get wiped out as more allies arrive, sigh. Tauren
pally's corpse remains there after I res.

A bunch more horde come along after a few mins, we retake IG! Tauren
pally's corpse lies there... I manage to find the "Report Away"
feature, sadly nobody else does it (so annoying when in another game I
got booted for being afk literally 30 seconds to put food in the
oven...), we win the game, Mr AFKadin gets full honor. Grrrr. Being
AFK for 30 sec or so, no problem, for 10 minutes plus though, is out
of order. I'm surprised Tol Barad doesn't auto boot people who get the
AFK tag on them (the auto one after not moving for X minutes) tbh, the
pally had it up for some time...

I've had somewhat similar experiences. Same faction I'm currently
playing skins my dead mobs, no problem. If opposite faction, I won't
loot the grey items. Hey, I won't help the "bad guys" unless I'm in a
really good mood. /grin If they help, and I've seen that, I'll loot
so they can skin. We both win.

So last week or so, I'm questing and there is a rogue staying back and
skinning my mobs. I tell him/her they are welcome to the skins and feel
free to help kill what I tag. I get no response from them, but they help
me out and I continue to loot everything. It usually works. Quite often
I get some help. It's always a mutual /wave or /bye when I'm finished
and have to go.

It's a feel good thing, and one of many things that keeps me playing
the game. Luckily, there are some good people playing.

Yes.

I actually usually help a fellow player, regardless of faction.

In any case... everybody, please loot your beast mobs. THANK YOU!

And where, pray tell, is that? I haven't seen it, and the other night,
as Raid Leader, I was asked by one of the other TB regulars if I could
boot a 'Lock, I believe it was. Had to tell them that I didn't know of
a way, and truth be told, I was in the middle of a heavy battle and it
probably would have been another 5 minutes before I'd have been able
to even if I *did* know of a way.

It's only there when you stand right on top of the afk person, so it
seems - I had him targetted while I was waiting to res, expecting it
on the right-cloick menu, nope... when we retook the base and I stood
on his corpse, *then* it was in the right-click menu when I had him
targetted. Guess it stops people reporting people they haven't
observed as afk, but it's damn annoying if you happened to die and
can't get near them again to do the report...

I haven't played Tol Barad enough to know if it is different, but I
have done this all the time in AV. At least in AV, all you have to do
is target the person, then the "flag as away" option comes up when
right-clicking their portrait. I can do this to people still in the
entry tunnel even when I am half the battleground away. Even if you
aren't close, you can target a person by typing /tar (first few
letters of the name). Unless this has changed recently and I haven't
noticed it?

Well yes, that's how it's always worked in battlegrounds, and so I
expected it to be like that in Tol Barad. But it wasn't, there just
was no report option in the right-click menu the first time I tried,
and there was when I was on top of the person. No idea what the
difference was, if it wasn't about distance, I'm sure I'm not so blind
as to miss a "Report as Away" option when I'm specifically looking for
it!

Tol Barad battles can consist of multiple raid groups; I don't recall if
you can report people in other groups.

He was in my raid; there were only about 25 of us in the battle at all
(raidgroup was not full and I didn't see anybody outside my raid) - I
was initially using the raidframes to target him to try to report him
but no luck until I got closer. Not really sure why it wasn't working,
can only assume it's a distance thing, but maybe there was something
else going on.

It was made very difficult to kick folks out of Tol Barad thanks
to people like Greedy Goblin, who discovered that kicking badly
geared and bady played players out of the battle was the single
best winning strategy. They patched that ability nearly out of
existence within a week or so.
