CTA satchel pet/mount question

John Gordon

9/10/2011 8:36:00 PM

I'm looking for details relating to getting a pet or mount from the CTA
satchel.

If I know all but one of the companion pets which can drop out of a
satchel, does that make it more likely that I'll get that last pet?

In other words, if the satchel determines that it will contain a pet, does
it select the pet from among all the pets I don't know yet, or can it
contain pets I already know?

Or if it would contain a pet I already know, does it just give me nothing?

Do satchels even work that way? Does it pre-determine the type of reward
(pet, mount, gem, potion, etc), or does it roll on a master table that
contains all the individual rewards?

If it's anything like Old Man Barlo's daily fishing quest east of Shatt,
you could get a second identical pet that you won't be able to do
anything with.

Before collecting the 4 baby crocks from Crocolisks in the City, I would
get duplicates of ones I already had. Very frustrating to finally get
Crocks in the City quest, and finally get a pet, only to find it's one
you already have.

I can't remember for sure now, it was quite a while ago, but I believe
you can't even vendor the the duplicate pet. Too bad they weren't BoA.

To answer my own question: I just ran a random on my paladin tank and got
a Cat Carrier (Silver Tabby), which I already knew.

What?. It gives you a common companion? Darn.
Well, for alliance anyway, a hordie would love one. An easy 20 gold,
horde side, on my realm.
Was it BoP?

No, it was BoE. I belive some BoP items can be in the satchel, but the
satchel itself is BoA and can be mailed to (same-server) alts.
