New gold spammer trick - calendar events

Urbin

My calendar has been flashing with a pending invitation for about a week but
I never found the event. Today I saw that there was an invitation for July
31 which I had missed because I only checked June dates so far.

Anyway, the invite was from "unknown" and there were about 200 people I
don't know whom were invited also. As description for the event, there was a
load of gold seller spam giving their URL and rates etc.

Is this the new gold spamming method? I didn't realise any random fool could
send me invitations to events, I always believed that was limited to guild
members.

Cheers

Yep it happens to me occasionally, you may also find the events in
every month for the rest of the year :-/ Very annoying, and I wish
there was at least a way to remove it after the character got deleted
(presumably why yours was sent by "unknown". Being able to send
invites outside the guild has uses sometimes; when I was running raids
with some friends in another guild a couple of years back they used to
send me invites via that, which was great! But it'd be nice if it had
a friendslist or something requirement, for outside of guild invites.

So I did tonight. Just deleted them all.

Yupp, I assumed so. It should auto-remove the events when the inviting
character gets deleted.

Yupp, limiting it to your friends list would be a good way of doing that.
