K3 Bruisers

Help an old girl out. Were these guys always "combat clickable"?

I've been spending some time in Northrend lately for Archaeology and
was very surprised when I went to click on the mailbox in K3 in Storm
Peaks, and nearly right-clicked a Goblin Bruiser NPC.

I always thought they were part of the Steamwheedle Cartel, and green,
and couldn't be clicked. Maybe with Cata, with Goblins as a playable
race, they lost their "faction affiliation" and became neutral,
attackable mobs.

Caught me by surprise. Every time I log out there (so when I log back
in I can do yet another Time-Lost Proto-Drake search), I have to be
very careful where I click.

Steamwheedle Cartel aren't green. You kill them to get Bloodsail rep.

Have you been browsing your rep frame and accidentally checked "At
War"? I believe that you need to do that to be able to attack targets
that aren't at a reputation of hostile.

I'll look when I get home, but I seem to recall that the Bruisers in
K3 have no faction associated with them. Their name is just K3 Bruiser
or whatever.

Also, I am either Honoured or Revered with the four groups comprising
the SC. As such, any member's name should appear in green to me. K3
Bruisers do not - they appear in yellow. According to Wowpedia, they
are supposed to be friendly to both Horde and Alliance - not neutral
and clickable.

Just wondered if it was always like that or if this is a new thing or
possibly a bug.

You're right. This is new to me too. My horde druid is at least honored
with everyone in the area. The K3 Bruisers are not hostile but you could
wrong-click them and end up dead in a big hurry. 464K health and they
show as PvP when you mouse over them, but they aren't flagged on their
portrait.

I'm tempted to smack one to see if I go PvP and to see how long I last.
Bwahaha!
On second thought, I bet you'd end up with several of them on you if you
attacked only one of them. I think I'll leave them alone for now.

Only thing I can think of for being there is for pvp protection.
Perhaps they forgot to set a faction for them.
