Humbert's Sword
My level 27 priest hooked up with a level 27 mage in Hillsbrad to do
parts of the Battle of Hillsbrad chain. He was frost spec'd and just
did incredible damage with his Freeze/Blizzard combo. It was pretty
funny to see four or five mobs 'charging' him at about 1/3 speed. :)
So anyway, we got the Humbert's Sword quest which is a drop off those
Dun Garok mobs. We cleaned up the outside first, then slowly worked
our way in. After what seemed like hours (but was probably only 15-20
minutes), we just weren't getting that drop. I asked if he minded if
I look up the quest on Thotbott to see what kind of drop it was. He
lol'd, saying he had just looked it up, saying it was 'rare'. Well,
that was a bit disappointing. :(
So we discussed our 'plans' for a bit, checked a few other sources,
basically just scratching our heads and sitting on our duffs. We
finally decided to work our way back outside, grind a bit more, and
then move on. So guess what happens? Our very next kill dropped the
sword! We both went hysterical over that.
Griefing/Ganking
In the year and a half I've been playing, I have reported less than
five players, and then only for what I considered egregious
circumstances (one was pretending to be a GM). But in Hillsbrad last
night (I am there way too often!), I had a level 26/27 alt doing that
lion's blood quests. Unfortunately there was some kind of raid or
action against Tarren Mill by Alliance players all '??' to me. One of
them ('Windbringr', I thought the name was but I can't find it in the
armory. Perhaps already banned?? or just spelled incorrectly) ganked
me every time he saw me.
It didn't seem like he was violating the technical definition of
corpse camping as he would run back and forth between Tarren Mill and
that small tower just to the southwest of Tarren Mill. But the moment
I rez'd and he was about, he would bang me. I guess during the few
seconds of respite I had (perhaps 10 or so), I could have wandered off
a bit but I only needed two more Lion's blood to complete that quest,
and they were plentiful around that tower.
So ganking me once or twice is fine but after three or four times it
really was a bit irritating. And after six or seven times I was just
pissed. I didn't report him, primarily because I really don't like to
report players and 'normal' ganking is more or less OK with me. But
in this case, it seemed to go beyond the pale. Is this something any
of you would have reported?
