Arena frames and DoTimer

John Gordon

I've recently started doing some 3v3 arenas on my elemental shaman, and
I'm having trouble with an interaction between the built-in arena frames
and the DoTimer addon.

By default, if you have a dot effect on a target, DoTimer will display
small hovering bar(s) with the name and duration of any dots when you
mouseover that target or any unit frame of that target.

Unfortunately, the hovering bar itself is opaque with respect to mouse
clicks, so when I put my mouse over an opponent's arena frame on which
I have a dot, I can't click on the opponent's frame -- the clicks are
blocked by the hovering bar.

This doesn't happen under any other circumstances, so it appears to be
a special case unique to the built-in arena frames and DoTimer.

Anyone else have this happen and have a solution? Is the hovering bar
configurable within DoTimer?

Thanks.

I can't help you out, because I don't use the DoTimer addon, but...

You should highly consider going resto for arena PvP. Resto shamans
are the best PvP healers in the game right now, and probably will be
for the season. Plus, elemental is one of the worst PvP specs right
now, and enhancement is pretty bad too (just not nearly as bad as
elemental). Blizzard basically over nerfed PvP elemental shamans in
Cataclysm after seeing how good they were in Wrath.

I'm not sure what class your healer is, but for arena PvP, ret >> holy

paladin. That's how things have shaped up for this season.

I'm not going to be a great deal of help here but - it's definitely
configurable because I don't have it on my set up and I do have
DoTimer.

I can't check the settings because I don't have an active account at
the moment.
