Profit / loss addons

Hi,

Are there any good profit and loss addons available? I've tried some
of the accountancy type addons but they don't do what I want from
them. They tend to just say that you spent money on / got income from
things like the AH, Mail, Loot etc.

I would like one that actually tracks where costs and profit come
from.

For example:

I spend 100g on Herbs on the AH, send 50g worth to my Alchemist and
50g to my Scribe. They make goods which they send back to my auction
character and the potions sold for 100g and the glyphs sold for 150g.

I would like this to be reported as 50g in costs each for Alchemy and
Inscription and 100g revenue / 50g profit for Alchemy and 150g revenue
/ 100g profit for Inscription.

Is there anything that does that? The addons that I have tried
usually say that I spent 100g on the AH and either report the revenue
against the AH or against Mail which isn't any use in seeing how much
each trade skill makes or loses unless you keep each character's
economy separate.

Thanks

I think that's asking a lot from an add-on. If you buy, say, a stack
of Heartblossom and send it to your alchemist, who already has three
stacks of them, and you use half a stack, how is it supposed to know
that those herbs came from the recent AH purchase and not from the
previous purchase which might have been a different price? What if you
use two stacks?

I'm pretty sure that a combination of auctioneer (and his module
"beanconter") can do this, but I don't know how becuase I don't care
about profit palying at AH :D

I don't see how the addon could track the herbs after you buy them. It's
theoretically possible but it would be a very complex addon to write.

I've already been thinking about it a lot and am thinking about writing
the addon. It's not as complex as you might think.

To track the herbs after you buy them you would have to keep a stock
quantity and a stock value.

For example:

1. You buy 2 stacks of a herb at 10g each and 1 stack at 13g. You now
have 3 stacks for a total value of 33g.

2. If you then mail 1 stack to your Alchemist and 2 stacks to your
Scribe you value each stack at 11g (the average price).

3. When the alchemist uses that stack you then transfer the cost from
Herbs to Alchemy, adjusting stock values when you sell the product then
the revenue goes against Alchemy.

4. Same for Inscription when your Scribe uses the herbs and sells the
product.

It wouldn't accurately track the cost of each individual glyph or potion
but it would tell you how much you make from each trade skill.

I'm not concerned with individual stack prices. I'm concerned with the
costs and revenue of each trade skill over time. If you buy them at
different prices then the addon would have to use the average price.

One of the issues that the addon would have to overcome would be to
value the ingredients that you didn't pay for. For example, if you've
only ever gathered Heartblossom, you wouldn't have bought it so wouldn't
know its value. Should it value the stock at 0g or should it value it
at the AH price? (which it wouldn't know without doing a scan)
