What happens when you gain/lose Intellect in combat?

How does gaining and then losing Intellect while in combat affect mana?

Let's say a spellcaster has 100k maximum mana, and currently he's in the
middle of a boss fight. He has spent half of his mana already so he's
sitting at 50k. Then he gets a +1000 intellect proc, from a trinket or
a weapon enchant.

I assume his maximum mana would increase to 115k (1000 int * 15 mana per
point).

Would his current mana increase from 50k to 65k? And if so, what happens
to that extra 15k mana when the proc wears off?

Assuming it works like the health increase from Battlemaster's
Trinkets and the like:

Start fight: 100k/100k
Mid-fight: 50k/100k
Proc: 65k/115k
Just before proc expiry: 51k/115k
Proc ends: 51k/100k

Basically, when it procs, you gain an increase in both current and
maximum mana. When the proc expires, your maximum mana decreases, but
you do not lose any available mana as a result.

Forget about maximum values - to visualise think of it like this - the start
of the bar jumps from zero to minus 15k temporarily, it gets 15k longer.
When the effect ends, the start of the bar jumps back to zero and it gets
15k shorter.
