stack add-on...

K-

I'm having trouble seeing for whatever reason, how many stacks I have on
me. Last night, I wiped the heroic run twice in Blackrock, as I
couldn't tell when I had 80 stacks after interrupting the beam on the
second boss. The first time, it was me who hit 100 and turned into the
beast and killed my group. The second time, I was a bit paranoid, and
the add hit 100 and wiped the group. I left group out of embarrassment
after that. I never had problems on stacks before. I had a similar
issue in heroic HoO on the first boss with the snakes, where you gather
stacks until the switches are pulled. The group didn't have a problem
and we downed him easy, BUT I couldn't see the stacks again...dunno.
Maybe the way my screen is customized. Is there an add-on anyone uses
that maybe will pop up an icon or text that I can choose where to place
to help?

When you say you are having "trouble" seeing the stacks, what exactly
do you mean?

+ The stack does not show up at all?

+ The stack is there but you have trouble seeing it amongst all the
screen clutter?

+ Something else?

That was exactly my question after reading your post, too.

In any case, I would expect a boss mod like DBM to warn you when you reach
critical stack height (or is it depth? :-)

Sorry - I guess I'm just not seeing it. I know it's supposed to be next
to my minimap, below the buffs, but having a hard time seeing it. Maybe
it is the screen clutter, maybe it's too small... I say maybe because it
could have been there, but I was too much going on my first time in
there and the stacks build up fast, so I guess I'm missing it. I
admit, I am used to DBM warning me, and perhaps it was too much a
crutch. For example, in ICC against Sindragosa, DBM would constantly
update me on how many stacks I had before I had to stop casting, and
wait for them to fall off. I was looking for maybe an add-on that
counted stacks similar to that. If not, I jut have to make sure I
adjust some things and be prepared to watch more carefully....

Hm, not knowing what addons you use it's hard to tell you where to look.

On my interface, buffs and debuffs are in the place the stock UI places
them. I have a list of buffs to the left of my minimap (which is on the top
right corner). The debuffs are in a row of their own some 5cm or so below
the buffs. The buff/debuff icons have roughly the same size as my action bar
buttons do.

Stacks of buffs and debuffs are shown as numbers in one corner of the
buff/debuff icon (lower right I think, but could be wrong).

Depending on the number of buffs (or rather how many lines it takes to show
all buffs, I have seen up to 3 lines), the debuff line moves up/down a
little. Depending on the number of debuffs, they might be displayed on more
than one line, too (I recall having had two lines of debuffs), so locating
the one you are specifically looking for might take some searching.

Also, there is an option to only show "critical" buffs or those about to
expire on your buff display. That option was added some patches ago and I
think it is on by default. I have disabled it because I like the classic
display even if at times it takes up more space than the new look. I don't
know if that setting has any influence on how debuffs on you are shown.

If you have a modified UI, it could - of course - all look different.

Hope this helps

The latest version of DBM actually warns you when the debuff stack gets
dangerous (around 75 or so), but you still need to watch the debuff icon
to know when it wears off.
You can't really miss it, the icon looks like this

http://www.wowhead.com/s...

it has a number on it going from 0 to 100, and once you're off the beam
a counter will appear beneath the icon to show the remaining seconds.

If you still can't see it I think it's possible to configure a
buff/debuff monitor like Auracle or NeedToKnow (and possibly also
PowerAuras) to track and show the "Evolution" spell.

kk - guys...that really does help...I also have to check to make sure my
DBM is up to date. I haven't updated it in a few days. Again, it was
alos my first time in heroics on Blackrock, so I missed it twice, which
is not like me. I use carbonite, and my mini map is up in that corner,
so I think it might actually be covering it as I also like the classic
view of all buffs shown, not the consolidated version. With those buffs
all shown, it might be pushing the stacks down under my mini-map. hmmm.
I may have to tweak some stuff... Thanks..

I use 2 things that help me a lot on the Corla fight:

Raid Watch 2 (which is a boss mods addon similar to DBM) will make a noise
when your stacks get high, and another noise when your stacks drop off.
That in itself makes the fight much more manageable to me (being a healer
I'm often looking at health bars, so audio alerts are very useful to me).

Secondly, I use VuhDo as my party/raid display. Now I need this as a healer,
but find it extremely useful even on my non-healer characters to be able
to see the state of the entire party/raid. To know who needs dispelling /
decursing / etc, who is out of range, even which direction they're in when
they're out of range - all that info is invaluable.

Now, VuhoDo can show debuffs, including stack count and time left, right on
its frames. So I can see at a glance how many stacks of Evolution I have (and
even how many stacks everyone else has).

Of course, both of these tools are useful for much more than Corla and I'd
hate to be without either of them.
