Elusive hit cap

Urbin

1/4/2011 9:18:00 AM

When I hit 85 I was easily hit capped from quest rewards, even enough for
raiding. However, my average item level was not good enough for heroics.

Since then I have been working on reps and running a few instances,
upgrading my gear enough to reach the heroic limit. However, each upgrade
seems to have haste/crit/mastery instead of hit, so by now I'm so low on hit
that I even have 1.3% miss on same level mobs :-(

I'm carrying two sets at the moment, the low iLvl/high hit set and the high
iLvl/low hit set and thought I'd keep the second to get into instances and
then equip the second for better dps. Unfortunately, low iLvl also means low
stamina and the hit set leaves me at only 82k HP instead of the 104k I have
with the "good" set.

I've put in hit gems so far, will look into reforging and hit enchants next,
I guess.

Plus I saw there is a nice leatherworked chest that comes with 200+ hit,
which should be a welcome improvment.

I'm sure I'll get there, but I was a bit frustrated after my initial elation
at having reached hit cap the moment I hit 85 :-)

Cheers
Urbin

Reforging will almost certainly make the difference. You can trade crit for
hit, for example... after all, you can't crit what you don't hit.

Yupp, spent about 60 or so gold last night and reforged some crit into hit.
I'm now hit capped for heroics again and at about 1.6% miss for raids, which
won't be a problem for quite some time yet.

I got the 1/2011 issue of the german magazine "PC Gamer MMORE" from a friend
which had a lot of class information in it. They recommended the "Razorshell
Chest" which comes with a nice 203 hit rating and is made by leatherworkers,
so I researched the mats needed for that last night. However, it seems, that
this was in the beta only and didn't make it into release (at 10 heavy
savage leather, 6 volatile earth and 10 scarred shell fragments it would
have been relativel cheap if you had a guild LW to make it for you) :-(

It seems that there were quite a few other things they wrote based on
beta/PTR data, it probably went into print before Cata was released, so they
couldn't double check everything. Still, it is a nice magazine (and they
recommended Factionizer, which was why my friend sent it to me :)

what is the hit cap for a bm hunter?

I have +5,33 on mine
<http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/character/hakkar/aret%C3%B9sa/ad... and
it seems that I have a miss around 0,0..something on lvl 88 mobs

maybe be because aretùsa is bm and urbin is sv that you need so much hit
rating?

anyway for bm hunter haste is mandatory as is hit :D

The hit cap for any hunter is 8%. I don't know of and BM talents that help
reaching those 8% with less hit value, so the percentage should be the same
for all of us.

8% hit is 961 hit rating, and I'm at 770 which gives 6.41% at the
moment with about 1.6% missing.

Yes, your armory page confirms you have 5.33% hit. How do you come to the
conclusion, that you have a miss around 0.0x against level 88 mobs?

Check your in-game tooltip on the character screen, that breaks down miss
chances against mobs of your level, +1, +2, +3/boss mobs.

We both need 8% hit. Why do you think you need less? Draenei get a bonus,
but from the armory I see that you are a troll, who doesn't get a hit bonus
as far as I know.

Be glad we're not mages, spell hit cap is 17% or about 1740 hit rating.

Urbin, glad he is not a mage

I saw something wrong (or saw right, read wrong :D ), just yesterday I
checked the ingame tooltips because I was unsure whath item to take from
reward and I saw 0,00

today's morning I rechecked the same tooltip and saw horrible stats :D

ok, my hit cap is 961, nothing more to say :)

urg - tell me about it...On my mage I've put everything I can towards
hit and I'm still at 1.5% miss chance at the highest level shown (lvl 88?)
