False dichotomy. There are melee weapons, weapon: guns and weapons.
Talbot's Chainsaw is a weapon. Stupid, I know.

Target Hand, then Disarm
Target Head, then Decapitate
Target Vitals, then Street Cred

Chainsaw is only a weapon.
Gas-Powered chainsaw is a melee weapon.
Talbot's chainsaw is only a weapon (and also unique).

Therefore, if you want classic zombie killing, looks like you'll need Gas-
powered chainsaw.

Yeah, well it still seems rediculous to have three chainsaws and only
one of them is a melee weapon. The only people using chainsaws not at
melee range should be Juggler and only before a crowd of baffled
tourists at Darling Harbour!
