Decklist: Boys Who Hate Girls Who...

Lönkka

11/3/2010 11:10:00 AM

Posting my LCQ/ ECD1 deck as had several request for the decklist.

This is a Trochomancy based anti-"Girls Who..." deck.

Thought that EC environment would abound with that decktype so made a
deck that would be good at handicapping it.

I ran across two one Day 1; Erik on turn 2 as my grandprey/-predator
on a 4 player table, and Kaspar as my prey on turn 3 as my prey.
Especially the latter would've been yummy but I got a bad start as I
just didn't draw Trochomancies in the beginning so Kaspar got off with
one very quick Ashur tables usage.

In addition to handicapping decks who rely on getting cards back from
ash heap the deck also works against decks that use cards quickly. For
those that do not it has a few copies of Slaughterhouses to speed up
the the accumulation of cards to ash heap. Naturally you want use the
Trochomancy against recursion decks at inferior to maximize the
removal of the cards they need, so when such a deck is prey use it
imemdiately when bleeding before thay bounce. If it is a Girls Who...
deck you probably want to use the same effect whereever on the table
the dirty tramps are sitting.

Giullaume Giovanni is the man due to his hand size increasement
ability -hand size 15 and another 6 cards in Storage Annexes is sure
nice. Sennadarek's special is pure gold and that this deck definately
needs another copy!

In LCQ managed to get one near sweep from one table (GW + 4) and
mostly was either missing one additional bleed or stealth from
ousting my prey before I got ousted.

The name of the deck is also kinda derived from a brilliant recentish
Swedish movie "Män som hatar kvinnor" (ie. Men Who Hate Women) which
has been less brilliantly translated into "The Girl with the Dragon
Tattoo", duh.

A+ for metagaming! Did you ever ask your prey to bounce you to your
grand prey(or cross-table) to hose the recursion? Was Pentex Loves
You! really Pentex Subversion?

Did I ever!
The game where Eric was my grandprey and I noticed my prey was playing
with Lasombra I immeditely told him that he should always bounce my
bleeds because of Trochomancy and how bloody unstoppable Girls decks
are unless you hamper then as much as possible. Let alone when such
unstoppable brilliant player like Eric is playing the deck. I asked my
prey if he had bounce immediately in hand so we could right away get a
bleed bounced to Eric, unfortunately he didn't.

IIRC we managed to bounce Eric with only one bleed (naturally
augmented with Trochomancy) during the whole game :(

We might've been able to do more, but Robyn was too stubborn to gang
up on her predator and use Kindred Spirits on Eric. After Robyn was
ousted it didn't take long for Eric to oust me with a bleed of 5 at 2
stealth (Guillaume deflected it, but when it was bounced back Baldesar
wasn't able to both untap with Eluding and Deflect with one blood)

Later on my prey told me that he had, for most part of the game (but
not when I initially asked in the beginning), had more Deflects in his
hand waiting for my Trochomancies. He had just waited for me to ask
about the Deflection + Trochomancy combo... Lesson learned: do even
more communicating with other players!

Was Pentex Loves

Duh, indeed it was a Subversion, not Loves You (TM),

Ah, out of curiosity checked out what Trochomancy is: it is divination
from wheel tracks.

It is an awesome idea because it doesn't harm only one deck, but many
that we see in tournaments these days: Anson & Volker Ashurs, Nana
Liquidation & Ashurs, IMBUED, anything using Sudario Refraction
(Kahzar's / power Shambling / Chelsea Hotel / tap n bleed),
Cybellotron, any sort of Parthelios, etc.

Great pick.

Yeah. We'd been doing quite a bit of talking about the metagame with
Janne pre-EC, and the Trochomancy angle was the best one we could come
up with to fight those damn recursion decks. As you note, it's also
nice against a lot of other common tournament deck types. I tried to
kill one Cybele deck with rush in one game, but just could not do it;
could not focus totally on that deck (my prey) and those things bloat
like crazy if you let them :/.

I'd personally have plunked an Uncoiling in there too, to also nuke
that Anthelios (or Unmasking, or...) from the table... ;)

Here's a question: what is a "Girls Who..." deck? And how is this an
anti-"Girls Who..." deck?

A "Girls..." deck would be Aksynia & Cybele and pals. Bloat a lot, re-
use cards in your ash heap (Ashur Tablets, Anthelios).

Oh, ok. Thanks! I don't know that that is a well known name for a well
known archetype yet.

Oh yeah, it is here in Europe. :)
Erik and other players made it very popular here. So popular that it
is a good thing to meta against.
I myself thought about making one to use here in Portugal, because it
is quite strong, but never had the time / effort put into it.

Girls Who 'Find Inner Peace' and similar decks have been very strong
in the last year or so.
