Jeff Poole

10/26/2010 4:55:00 AM

Hey all,

If you'll be in the Los Angeles, CA area November 20th (or simply want
to travel down our way for a thrilling day or combat and ousting) then
you'll need to check out this link:

http://vtesinla.org/downloads/BattleOfLosAngelesSto...

This is the first of many Los Angeles, CA based storylines. We'd love
to have you come out and try and climb to the top and claim a special
place in the LA storyline history.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me with any questions.

Jeff,
Looks nice. I'd be curious about where you got your art from...

Love it! Playing with Hardestadt, Rafael de Corazon, Wilhem Waldburg
and Zane is worth 1 VP!

I ripped the art from White Wolf books.

Is there still the grouping rule and the regular list of banned
cards(i.e. regular tournament rules apply)? We're talking about coming
down for the Bay Area for this. What time on Saturday will you start?

Follow-up question:

Does the Crown of Angels move *on to*(i.e. Guardian Angel, Abbot, etc)
whichever minion takes the action to either contest(if controlled and
if the contestation is successful) or, if it is uncontrolled, the zero
stealth undirected action to take it from the center of the table?
Right now it just says "to," which is something I haven't encountered
before. Are you using these terms interchangeably?

Well, that and the lettering from the cover of the Rage album with the
same title. Unless White-Wolf used that, too, since the vamp is in the
same position as the RAtM cover art.

Brandon,

We'd love to have any and all Bay Area players!

We'll start the tournament roughly at 6pm, run 2 rounds + final ending
around midnight.

There will be free play from noon-6pm for anyone who wants to show up
before the tournament.

And yes, the background and font for the title are from a Rage Against
the Machine album, which will feature prominently in the event's
musical playlist.

As to the rules question, here's a clarification:

First, all normal tournament rules apply, such a grouping, banned
cards, etc, with the additional requirements set out in the tournament
specific rules.

As for the storyline card "Crown of Angels":

The card is similar to any other card that goes on a vampire, like
Abbot, Guardian Angel etc. When you take it from the center of the
table, the card moves to the vampire making the successful action.
The card then can move to a new vampire via a successful contest or
via burning or sending to torpor, the vampire with the card. While
the vampire with the card is contesting the title, only the title is
contested, not the card (ie, it is still in play and can be moved by
burning or sending to torpor, the vampire with the card) and a new
vampire can call a referendum to contest the title (which could result
in multiple contesting vampires, obviously not by the same
Methuselah).

The situations where the card may burn or be removed from play can
include: a Methuselah with the card being ousted, the vampire being
burned but not by another vampire with a capacity above 5 (ie via a
low cap or through an action in which they burn maybe because of
daring the dawn, force of will, etc.), or playing a card such as
Descent Into Darkness or being targeted by a successful Banishment
(these doesn't remove the card from the game or burn the card, but
would put the card in a position where it would not be available to be
taken and thus defeats the point of the tournament, so I'd rule that
the card then returns to the center of the table so it can be accessed
again). Since I've already published the pdf, I won't go and errata
it, but consider it to say "if this card is burned, removed from the
game, or removed from the ready and torpor region...". This is to
keep the spirit of the storyline alive and discourage players from
"hiding" the card by removing it from the play area.

Muahahaha, my evil plans are right on track. What accommodations can
be had for those trying to go cheap? Could some floor/couch space be
had for a night or two? Ian and I are talking about carpooling, I
dunno who else is coming.

We can definitely accommodate you somewhere. I have a couch that
folds out into a bed and can sleep two. I don't have any extra
pillows or blankets for it though, so you'd need to bring some. I
live like 15-20 minutes away from the tournament.

Cool, thanks! I guess we'll plan on working out the details when we
make it into town. At this point, it looks like we(Ian and myself so
far) will drive down early Saturday, crash Saturday night and go home
Sunday. I'm looking forward to it and thanks again.
