Cease Production Clarification

Wilsoros

Hello All

I understand new sets are no longer being made, but is CCP precluded
from re-printing sets? Seriously, I could see enough demand to
reprint older sets, or even parts of older sets. If anyone knows the
answer, I'd love to hear it,

best,

You would have to dig up the contract betweeen WotC and WW. It would
be in the fine print.

Generally speaking though, reprinting is reproducing which is
production. So the contract ending would preclude them from
reprinting older material.

Losing the ability to reprint HttB pre-cons is arguably a bigger loss
to the game than the inability to print new cards. They were so good,
and sold out so quickly too. gah! If only a re-print could have been
rushed through!

The world is lesser without everyone playing Neo Deflections.

I am wondering if at some point WW will send out some sort of missive
saying that they are destroying all remaining stock of VTES, and are
recommending their partner distributors to do the same.

That's what (Guardians of Order?) had to do when they ended their Usagi
Yojimbo RPG license.

Doubt it. I suspect that WW fire-sale their remaining stock to
distributors willing to take it and the distributors look and see if
they think they can get away tacking on a premium for existing, and
now limited, stock.

They sold out from manufacturer.
They are still available from well stocked retailers.

Fantasiapelit in Finland has these (as well as other sold out goodies
10th Anniv Tins, Bloodlines, Anarhcs and Final Nights) available.
Unfortunately local post office tends to charge an arm and a leg,
especially when shipping abroad.

Uh, if a distributor has bought and paid good money for items they
haven't yet sold I really don't think there's a silly clause in any
distribution contcat with any company that forces them do destroy
stock if the manufacturer recommends to do so.

It would be akin to distirbutors telling the retailers, and retailers
telling the customers the same.

"Sir, we regrettably have to impolore you to destroy your whole VTES
collection since the production has now ceased. Happiness is
mandatory. Have a nice day!" ;)

Duh!

PS No, actually there ARE such clauses and all the unsold VTES stock
in the spontaneously self combust on New Year 2011. Everyone should
buy all their VTES needs for now and the unforseeable future
IMMEDIATELY! Thank you for your co-operation. :P

Not to mention the CCP ninjas that sneak into your house if you fail
to comply, and flip out & kill everyone if they find you actually
playing VTES after it has been discontinued. Nasty things, those
ninjas.

Avoid being killed by ninjas and send all your VTES cards to me. I can
handle ninjas. I have cats.

I'm pretty sure you know all this already, but I'll post it for general
edutainment value.

Some distributors have "flooring" arrangements with manufacturers. This is
a very intimate relationship between a distributor and a manufacturer,
wherein the distributor keeps every single item a manuf has in stock on the
distrib's warehouse floor. This is beneficial to the manuf - they get
inventory into a distrib's w-house and out of their own w-house.
Beneficial to Distrib because they can market that "if they don't have it,
it's out of print", etc etc.

So, in cases like that, which are common between larger manufs and larger
distribs, if the manuf says it must go, then it goes away from the distrib.
This usually happens when a manuf loses a license - which is what CCP
will lose with VTES (the Deckmaster license).
