Location: Lisboa, Portugal
# of Players: 12
Winning Player: Teresa Neves
Winning Clan: Daughters of Cacophony
Winning Faction: Bahari
Key Minion: Scout Youngwood
We were not expecting many players, being a Storyline event with
Bloodlines, so we were pleasantly surprised to get 12 players. It was
the first V:tES tournament run in our local gaming store, Myrdinn's
Magic. A great thank you to the store owner, José António, for hosting
this event, and to the members of Domain Lisboa for running it.
Final table:
Tiago Brum, Daughters of Cacophony - Loyalists (Nosferatu Royalties
ft. Scout Youngwood, Lucinde & Dmitra Ilyanova)
Igor Pereira, Baali Bleed - Bahari (The Horde)
José Silva, Kyasid Bleed - Bahari
Nuno Moure, Nagaraja Bleed - Bahari
Teresa Neves, Daughters of Cacophony Vote & Bleed - Bahari
Tiago may have made a critical mistake when not influencing Scout
Youngwood. With no minions with PRE on the table, he was left with too
many cards on his hand that could not be used, and was unable to cycle
quickly enough. Parity Shift was not enough to make any serious damage
to Igor, his prey.
The balance of the table was skewed quickly, and had rather abnormal
results: Nuno used Anu Diptinatpa's special (Once each action, Anu may
burn a blood to give the acting minion +1 bleed) to help Igor oust his
prey, under the condition that he would get a turn of relief in which
he'd try to oust me (given that he would otherwise be ousted by José).
The tables turned when I was about to be ousted, so I played KRC
backward to oust Nuno and have a chance to survive, since Igor was not
bleeding much by that time.
As Igor had 2 VP already, I had to oust both Tiago and Igor to win the
tournament. At the end, Tiago had not enough wakes/intercept to save
himself, and it was a battle between me and Igor. Scout Youngwood's
special really kicked in, then, since he left two The Horde untapped
in hope of blocking my actions. On that last turn, either of us could
have died, were it not for the advantage I had from stealth and the
fact that he was hand-jammed.
Final result: Teresa Neves 3VP, Igor Pereira 2VP

Deck Name: A bene placito

Description: Daughters vote and bleed, with support obfuscate from
groups 5-6. I had no Master: Discipline cards in the deck, so the
Blessing of Lilith was used solely for the blood bonus (and very
useful at that).

With this deck, I've come to realize that, at least in 4-player
tables, my ally is ousted some time into the game. There is no way of
saving them, since I need my political actions to keep myself alive.
By that time, I should have enough vote control and minions to be able
to go over the extra 6 pool my prey gains.
The deck has an extraordinary recovery ability, pool-wise. On the
first table, when I was at one pool, my prey blocked the bleed that
would have ousted me (via Eagle's Sight) on the condition that I
didn't do anything hostile against him on the next turn. I agreed, and
on the next turn my 7 vampires (plus one Impundulu, previously
Entranced from my prey) yielded a total of 19 pool gain from
Consaguineous Boon x2 & Benefit Performance. Plus, had Impundulu burn
my predator's Tier of Souls, stole his Powerbase Montreal and prepared
for forward rush against the Harbingers of Skull wall. Which I got, to
the final gain of 3 VP on that table.
Get a dedicated combat deck against you and you're toast. Kaput. No
chance. On the second table my prey was playing Tupdogs, and poor
Scout Youngwood did not manage a single action before being
diablerized. I tried not to bring more minions up until I could ensure
two or three were influenced out at the same time, but my predator was
too hostile to permit that to happen.
I don't recall much of the third table, other than getting 1.5 VP on
it. Again, my ally was ousted before I could do something, but then I
ousted my prey and entered a one-on-one lock that lasted until
timeout.
Overall, very nice tournament. The special rules threw several
bloodlines out of whack, and it was fun to experiment what happens if
they are not restricted by their usual traits or groups. Still no love
for Daughters of Cacophony wall, but the new girls have a nicer spread
of intercept disabilities that allows them to block more effectively.
