Israel in Christian Prophecy

In the parable of the vineyard, Jesus warns that Jerusalem will be
destroyed after the "son" of the "landowner" is rejected.

There was a landowner who planted a vineyard, put a fence around
it, dug a wine press in it, and built a watchtower. Then he leased it
to tenants and went to another country. When the harvest time had come,
he sent his slaves to the tenants to collect his produce. But the
tenants seized his slaves and beat one, killed another, and stoned
another. Again he sent other slaves, more than the first; and they
treated them in the same way. Finally he sent his son to them, saying,
"They will respect my son." But when the tenants saw the son, they
said to themselves, "This is the heir; come, let us kill him and get
his inheritance.' So they seized him, threw him out of the vineyard,
and killed him. Now when the owner of the vineyard comes, what will he
do to those tenants?' They said to him, 'He will put those wretches
to a miserable death, and lease the vineyard to another people who will
give him the produce at the harvest time.'

A few years after the date when Jesus (the "son" in Christian belief or
a "prophet" according to Muslim belief) was rejected by the Jews,
Jerusalem was captured, destroyed, and burned to the ground by the
Romans:-

"The Temple was destroyed on Tisha B'Av, at the end of August, and as
the flames spread into the residential sections of the city, along with
the Roman legions, Jewish resistance crumbled quickly. The city was
completely under Roman control by the 7th of September."

For most of the next millennium Jerusalem was part of the Islamic
empire, until 1917 when the British invaded after World War I and
expelled Arabs and Muslims from Jerusalem.


The parable of the vineyard is based on a "song" in the Book of the
Prophet Isaiah in the ancient Hebrew/Jewish scripture:-

My beloved had a vineyard on a very fertile hill. He dug it and
cleared it of stones, and planted it with choice vines; he built a
watchtower in the midst of it, and hewed out a wine vat in it; he
expected it to yield grapes, but it yielded wild grapes. And now,
inhabitants of Jerusalem and people of Judah, judge between me and my
vineyard. What more was there to do for my vineyard that I have not
done in it? When I expected it to yield grapes, why did it yield wild
grapes? And now I will tell you what I will do to my vineyard. I will
remove its hedge, and it shall be devoured; I will break down its wall,
and it shall be trampled down.

Other key events in the history of Jerusalem:

* In 324 AD Jews were banned altogether from entering Jerusalem by
Byzantium. In 363 AD the Jews who had returned were expelled by the
Christians.
* In 629 the Jews who had dared to return were expelled from the city
yet again by the Byzantine ruler.
* In 787 AD Jews in the area were persecuted by the Egyptians.
* In 1033 AD a cataclysmic earthquake destroyed what was left of the
city.
* In 1099 German and French Crusaders captured Jerusalem and massacred
all surviving Jews.
* In 1187 Jerusalem was captured by the Muslims under Saladin, who
allowed all exiled Jews to return.

That's was true until John Steinbeck wrote "The Grapes Of Wrath"
and it was made into s movie.

Now the only Israel place has in Christain prophecy is:

"Pray that Ronald Reagan forgives your
wretched ways and cruel grapes, since
Christians don't".
