If the Russians, Bulgarians, Serbs, Antioch/Damascus and others aren't attending Crete, why have it? If they are pulling out, something is wrong with this meeting!

THey are all in schism. Orthodoxy without Greeks is but oriental despotism.
Hellenism was the original globalisation: the Mega Idea was that if you spoke
and thought Greek, you were Greek. Ethnicity is a modern, Darwinian notion.

Antiochians moved to Damascus and were dehellenised by Uspensky under
Nesselrode's directions, whereupon they mingled wth monophysite protmuslims.
Jerusalem and the Arameans already consider them in schism.

Moscow autocephaly was granted under duress. The Serb and Bulgarian
autocephalies are also dubious under Lutheran traditions introduced by Peter
the Great. The traditional Pentarchy was one patriarch per continent.

Georgian extremism has provided Athens and New York with many
servants. Whereas the provided Moscow with Stalin and Ignatief ( promulgator
of the Macedonia controversy, whose Canadian gransdon proves Sarah Palin
prescient).

So when are The Americas and Austral(as?)ia going to get their own
Patriarchs? And what about the overlapping jurisdictions that are there
already?

Here's the thing! The head of a canonical, autocephalous church IS the Patriarch of that territory. In essence, + Tikhon of the OCA is the Patriarch of America. The Greeks dispute this WITHOUT any real theological reasoning to dispute this. The Greeks believe ONLY + Bart can recognize autocephaly and this is another issue between Istanbul & Moscow. + BART LOOSES!

The Antiochians and ROCOR don't seem to accept that +Tikhon is the
Patriarch of America (North *and* South?) either. It's not just the Greeks.

And if, as Pyotr argues, Moscow's autocephaly is suspect, then the OCA's
is also, surely?

OK, Moscow declared itself autocephalous after the Council of Florence when Constantinople and all the Eastern bishops fell into heresy; except Mark of Ephesus. Kiev kicked out + Isidore who was a Constantinople lacky. It took Constantinople over 100 years to formally recognize Kiev/Russ as autocephalous - RIDICULOUS. There are no canons stating who can or cannot grant autocephaly. Russia & Istanbul continue to butt heads. Istanbul looses!
